I heard Rangel just threw him out of his fancy office on the second floor of the House - the one that is supposed to be occupied by the Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee. Boy, do I want to see a video clip of that!

It said something like "the new Speaker will be sworn in after this vote, and she will then swear in other members."

"SHE will then swear in...."

Until 1920 women couldn't even vote. All the women who worked so hard so many decades ago to give women the right to vote, and now a woman is the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

How I wish Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott, and all those women and men who worked so tirelessly to get women the right to participate in our government could have lived to see this.

Right now I feel a litte cried out but, somehow, I think I'll mangage to work up a few more throughout the day. Besides, the puppies are confused. They don't understand why I've broken down crying today. As always, they are there offering comfort. I keep telling them "I'm okay. I'm just happy" but they don't quite get it.

I'm going to lose it when she wins the vote! :bounce:

I miss it everyday. More than I can even express. I still call myself a "southerner" even though I have now lived in MA longer than I did there. Alas, all my people are either dead or the ones I don't care to see anymore, so trips back there now are very bittersweet.

I'm sure one day soon I will get the urge, slip on my traveling shoes, and blow into town. When the mood strikes me, I'll let you know ahead of time. We'll do lunch or dinner or something, ok?

responsible for addressing the needs of the citizens, not Dem/rethug.

to protect the minorities not the majorities. Majorities can take care of themselves where the minorities need a voice and that voice is the Constitution.
