This "reform bill" is used to monitor any and all activity of those who oppose the Administration and Republicans in Congress.

Oh, it can be utilized by those abusing their power to blackmail innocent citizens who happen to oppose this Administration and/or Neocon agenda.

It can also be utilized by those abusing power and privilege to frame and scapegoat innocent individuals who just happen to oppose the Administration and/or Corporate/Neocon agenda.

This is why spying on people's mail was a felony before it was signed.

It's not the information included in the mail thats the problem, its how those in power can manipulate it and use it against American citizens at large.

They (bushco/cheney & addington - the authors of most of the signing statements) just couldn't help themselves... so on this one they will get the ire of moderate allies in the senate who they *need* more than the senators need them; AND a law which was cosponsored in the House by Waxman - and Waxman has already commented on it - including that if the signing statement were followed - it would be in violation of the law. Doubt Waxman will just let it ride.

nose at them. The controls were explicit about opening the mail. Bush put it in writing that he's above the law and can do whatever the hell he wants, in the name of War of course.
