I cannot WAIT for Chimpy's SOTU this year!
We're in the majority and Chimpy will no longer be in friendly territory this year! I hope he's ready!

How much you wanna bet we hear crap about "bipartisanship" or some shit like that? As if he actually WANTS that!

3. Dick will have to sit next to her for the entire time!
How much you wanna bet he has a sudden "heart condition" to take care of?

7. No, please God, keep him healthy for the SOTU address
I am looking forward to the two of them sitting behind Shrub, Pelosi looking dignified and intelligent and Cheney looking like the last baby he ate really disagreed with him.

After that...

5. I usually watch to see if the Dems do anything
Like last year when they gave him a standing ovation after he mentioned that Congress didn't pass his Social Security reform. :D

9. will he even show up?
The Constitution just requires the president to inform Congress of the State of the Union - the speech before the joint houses is a fairly recent convention. He can send them an email if he wants instead.

(getting my tinfoil hat out) Would he show up if there were some urgent business elsewhere that required his complete attention, like the invasion of Iran?

10. Good point.
The SOTU used to be sent to the Congress. I think the president giving the speech is a 20th century thing. Wouldn't it be something if Chimpy did just send the message to the Congress? That would be so fitting.

11. Nah he won't because he likes to get his mug in front of the cameras
Since that's really what it's about. It's a PR thig nowadays with television. Back in the 19th/early 20th century when they just sent their message in writing there was no TV so it didn't matter anyway. Now (like most things in DC these days) it's about playing to the cameras.

Not that I would MIND if Chimpy decided to skip it this year...saves me from having to watch his idiot face for an hour!

12. He's telegraphed it: increase troops; keep the tax cuts; and whatever else he said the other day.
