1. Obama who? Well, he dresses nice
I just can't get over the fact that he's come out nowhere.
Nobody knows who he is really, The powers that be seem to tell
us that he is somebody we should vote for. I think he being
set up by Hillary and I think that he's not going to be
elected because he is not electable. And that's due only in
my opinion to his lack of real experience and lack of
substantial credentials. Let's face it, he got elected because
two Republicans screwed up.

3. He's had two best selling books, he was the first African American president of
the Harvard Law Review, served in the Illinois State Senate — I'd say enough people know him that he has enormous crowds everywhere he appears.

6. Yep...he's got it...
He's charming, well-spoken and intelligent. He's got this Bill Clinton kind of thing going for him that people gravitate to him and want to listen to what he has to say.

4. I think his lack of experience will work against if he runs...
I also think he would make for a perfect running mate at this point in his young career.

7. what about edwards lack of experience. I don't think he is
going to settle for vp this time. I think it depends on how much a person knows and understands, ect.

10. I don't think Edwards will either...
I do think a lack of experience can work against a candidate and it might in Obama's case. He could overcome that, too.

Henry Ford never graduated from High School but he knew which button to press when he needed the service of an attorney to walk into his office!

5. I am from Illinois and you'd have to have been here in 04
to know that no one is telling anyone who to vote for.
When ryan's campaign imploded Obama was running at 60% ahead. And anyone can google to find out about any candidate. I seriously doubt any candidate is going to say his/her positions on things, what they think, ect., until they announce. I don't recall Edwards or vilsack stating much until they announced.

9. A friend of mine from Illinois pointed him out to me...
She said to really watch this guy and believes that one day he will be president. She doesn't think it'll happen in the next election, but it will happen. She's pretty savvy and I think she's right.

13. "Let's all dismiss Obama because he doesn't have any experience, and furthermore
'he got elected because two Republicans screwed up.'"

Doesn't some guy named, uh, Fush...Hush...or something like that say those things all the time?

Oh, now I remember, the guys name is RUSH!

8. buzz
I think he will run and make a lot of money from it. I don't think he will win the nomination.

I think he's preparing for 2012 election.

Plus if he runs and builds the network of donors - it will help his re-elcction to the Senate.

Look at Lieberman - he was toast, but he relied on his national donors to pull him through.

14. Now you are talking.

Paul Simon was from my part of the state. Durbin and Obama are more from up north, but I love them both. Obama is popular here in the southern part of the state, more so than Durbin is. If you are from Illinois, you understand that this is not what you would expect in this part of the state. In 2004, when the majority of people here were so enamored with bush that you took a big chance to have a Kerry bumper sticker on your car, there was an over whelming amount of people supporting Obama. Our conservative newspaper endorsed him because they knew that his popularity was such that they could not fight it. When he came down here, and he did quite often, the halls were always filled. Usually there were even people outside listening through the open doors. His advisers were at a loss over his popularity here, I think they just did not expect it to be that easy.

One person up thread said the two candidates self imploded, well only one did. Obama was so popular in the state that the republicans could not get anyone else to run against him. Finally they imported their candidate from Maryland. Alan Keyes was his name, and I am happy to say that Mr. Keyes (fundie nut bag) is now back in Maryland where he belongs.

(edited for wording errors.)
