Question
While we support those who advocate peace, do we ever ask that of our adversaries, meaning those who wish us harm? Give peace a chance, indeed.

Think about it for a minute before answering.

1. Who is this "we" you reference?
Is it those of us, individuals all, who want peace, or our government, who appear to the rest of the world to be enthused warmongers?

The only leader of a nation-state (a nominal one, but a nation-state nonetheless) who consistently calls for peace is the Pope, really. And maybe the Dalai Lama, though he's camped out in India and exiled from his nation.

2. Just wondering..
ALL peace activists should be shouting from the rooftops about violence around the world. The silence is deafening. And it is deafening in a big way.

3. nationalism has a strangle-hold on us,
we have moved further and further away from persecution, be it race, sex, religion, etc. but one of the last remaining (and truly functioning) persecutions is that of nationalism. And not the kind of nationalism as we saw with the Nazis but the kind that we take for granted everyday. Being upset about the pound out performing the dollar or the oil industry switching to the pound. Supporting immigration control. Stopping outsourcing. How deep does our nationalism go? Should it matter that we maintain our dominance on the world?
