So were talking now about a SIX OR SEVEN YEAR WAR???? Seems more like a plan to stifle opposition til Junior is well out of office. Do they think this will silence the public for 2 or 3 more years? Bush* is in TOTAL DENIAL.

~snip~ WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 — President Bush’s new Iraq policy will establish a series of goals that the Iraqi government will be expected to meet to try to ease sectarian tensions and stabilize the country politically and economically, senior administration officials said Sunday.

Among these “benchmarks” are steps that would draw more Sunnis into the political process, finalize a long-delayed measure on the distribution of oil revenue and ease the government’s policy toward former Baath Party members, the officials said.

As the policy is being debated in Washington, the new American operational commander in Iraq said Sunday that his plan was to send additional American troops, expected to be part of the policy change, into Baghdad’s toughest neighborhoods, and that under the new strategy it may take another “two or three years” to gain the upper hand in the war.

3. Wonder what impact this has on potential candidates?

That's one helluva mess to inherit; depleted budget, depleted military, divided America.

Thanks, GWB. :sarcasm:

4. Leave the mess for the next guy/gal, probably a Democrat...
and then, if things turn worse, it will be all the fault of the Democrats. They will say that Dubya would have "won the war"...That's just the way they are - they make excuses and never accept responsibility for anything.

7. This is why we have to rescind the Iraqi war resolution and make jr withdraw the troops in 60 days.
Can you imaging his little temper tantrum when the SCOTUS says "Yes jr you have to follow the Constitution of the US after all"?
