America is said to be the land of opportunity.
So where is it?

What are the opportunities available for people to get into and live a semi-good life in?

The military?

Or is America now the land of the opportunists?

Watch the Discovery Channel or the Learning Channel for a couple of months and sooner or later you are going to see the show about the people who live off of flip-flops.

Somewhere on the coast of Africa for some reason having something to do with winds and tides and god only knows what else there is a strip of beach upon which worn-out flip-flops wash ashore. Aside from those flip-flops the area is so damned poor that the people who live there have nothing else to use as a raw material with which to make things that might be sold. Its the basis of their entire economy.

So they make shit out of the flip-flops and sell the shit and that is how they make the money that lets them exist.

Now, tell me again about there being no opportunity in this country. Here we are in a land where anybody that has got himself a social security number can get a credit card worth $500. You know what $500 would be to any one of those flip-flop people?

On Edit: I hit some button by mistake when I first began. Sorry.

7. unless that was sarcasm- and I missed it
entirely- (apologies if that is the case)

If we were on that 'beach' in Africa here in the US we'd be arrested. The beaches close at night.

There is no place in the US that isn't owned by someone- someone who will keep you and your credit card from loitering there.

8. Or, if that doesn't work...
you can at least watch how they make some really awesome motorcycles.

Or watch the Mythbusters shove a gerbil up Jamie's ass to test that Richard Gere myth.

Opportunity abounds!

3. People say a lot of fake bullshit.
America is the most (economically) right-wing first world nation in the world. Thankfully we're working on that. :)

4. I guess that was only true during the frontier era
I thought we would be able to keep the tradition going by electing the right government. But now it seems to be run by rich nepotists. I had little opinion regarding Chimp when he got elected, but when I saw him speak I said to myself, "Man, this guy really does not care."

I'm not sure what we can do now. Achievement is not based on hard work anymore like it once was, when people could live off the land. Now often the hardest workers are just taken advantage of by big business. As long as the U.S. keeps electing people who just don't care we're screwed.

6. You have the opportunity to be exploited
Really hippie :hi:

Do you really want an opportunity?

Plants are only as good as their climate,
when the spoil is to reduce and diminish others for
your two pence, what's it come to indeed. kriminal kapitalism
has usurped the much older and more enriched principal of olde.

Now "olde" is part of a million brand name. The system was
designed to destroy all social longevity, reducing uz all to
selfish opportunists slavishly greedily wishing on our brothers feast.

peace,
