2. "Unusual warming in the NE might be partly due to global warming"
Wow...what a ringing endorsement.

4. At least it's an endorsement. Any mention that the bizzare
weather is caused by global warming is good because it makes more people aware.

Of course, El Nino is enhanced by the effects of global warming because it's not like any El Nino I've ever seen.

8. exactly GW exacerbates the el-nino effects
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 06:54 PM by leftchick
they also made this a US issue. No mention of the worldwide higher winter temperatures. But then that would confirm climate change. :eyes:

3. maybe that's because it's true?
The idea that global warming is a reality and that this recent spate of strange weather is caused by el nino isn's mutually exclusive.

6. If they're "replaying" it,
it might be the one I saw Friday night. The guy from NOAA was NERVOUS beyond belief! I'd like to have one of those people who are trained to spot liars watch him and give their feedback - 'cause I don't think he was telling the truth.

7. Couldn't it be explained
as the rise in ocean temperatures in the pacific has created an El Nina therefore the wheather patterns are such as to create warmer temps in the East?

9. My concern is that El Nino will accelerate...............
global warming. I'm certainly not a scientist but it would seem to me that if the planets temperature is rising under what, are now, normal circumstances then the effect of El Ninos could accelerate that phenomenon. I guess it would be similar a pot of water put on to boil and it heats gradually then you add hot water which will shorten the time to bring the pot to boil.
What do I know? Just a thought.

11. There is no question global warming is taking it's toll, BUT
I happen to accept the explanation that the warm winter has been influenced by El Nino this year.

After all, it has not been warm coast to coast.

Look what's been going on in Colorado!

12. El Nino is responsible for the weather, not the climate...
the climate is changing, that is a fact.
