Suzanne SummersIn the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed her Malibu home, Suzanne Somers maintains a positive attitude.

In a statement to TMZ issued by her rep, Suzanne says, "My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."

Suzanne and her husband were not in Malibu during the blaze.

I liked her in Three's Company, but her perspective on what happened gain her respect.

4. She has shown a remarkably positive attitude over the years.
I bet she bounces back from life's let downs better than most because of it.

6. Think I'll go buy a thigh master
Seriously, good for her. Neither she nor any of her relatives were injured in the fire and as she says she will be able to rebuild. It's good to hear perspective from someone who has just survived a bad experience and then had the asshole media shoving microphones in their face for hours.

8. What a great attitude
Good for her and so sorry about everyone who lost their homes.

Yes, homes and things can be replaced, but there are always those things that can't.

My boyfriend had a house fire over 6 years ago and hardly a day goes by when he doesn't mention a memento, or a recording, or a photo that "burnt up in the fire."

12. If I've said it once, I've said it a bajillion times
Perspective is EVERYTHING!

I never cared for her work, but I'm loving her beautiful mind right now. What a gracious lady.

Hugs to Suzanne...

13. hmmm I guess its a mixed bag
On one hand, it's inspiring that she can face this loss with such clear perspective. On the other hand, I'm astonished that a presumed bimbo has brains and a soul. On a third hand, that she seemingly has more perspective than * is kinda scary. But not as scary as the fact that I seem to have sprouted an extra hand though.

16. Suzanne only played a bimbo on tv. She's not a dummy.
Her son was almost killed as a child, and once something like that happens, most adults are able to put all other things into perspective.

I'm just glad no one seems to have been injured in any of the houses that burned down.

Arson is highly suspected, and I would not be surprised if it turns out to be the group of people who are always fighting for greater access.

I know that a lot of the old timers out there (rich folks, all) are always protesting about keeping the area "pristine". Ted Danson, the Bond guy, and a bunch of other residents are trying to keep it "secluded", which rubs some people the wrong way.

18. Yup
I stand corrected and I tried to be delicate about the "bimbo" thing by using the word "presumed."

I lived out there for a while.

She was on the tube during one of the many intervals in my life where I've avoided the tube like the plague, so I know very little about her really.

I'm glad there was no loss of life as well.

But it IS a bizarre community.

As a transplanted New Englander out there, I was missing well. . .I was missing. . . the weather, and one day there was an amazing wind storm. I went to the Bank in Malibu and started talking like a New Englander about how nice and refreshing the wind felt. Somebody sneered and said, "You OBVIOUSLY don't own property." Hurrrrumph.

Well it didn't occur to me since they were growing shrubs in what would normally be the desert, that the wind might uproot their flora.

Sheesh. . .sometimes I can really stick my foot in it.
