Could we organize a large protest in DC?
I think we could, we need to pick a date in April and do it.

How many could go say Monday April 2nd 2007?

4. I'm not against it, but people need time and
people are more likely to go if the weather isn't so bitter.

I know, I know, so much is at stake, but that is what we are dealing with.

10. On my calendar the 27 woudl be a saturday.
Many people still have the weekend off. DC is centrally located on the eastern seaboard and easily reached by millions of people with a few hours. We cannot wait until April.

The folks out tonight holding vigils all across america made an impact. We need to continue to make this same impact: ordinary americans of all sorts are against this war.

15. What?
Almost all large demonstrations are held on weekends. If you want to organize a protest I suggest you look at how previous large protests were organized. The problem is certainly not that the media doesn't work on weekends. The problem might be that the media routinely ignores huge demonstrations, but they will do that on a Monday just as well as a saturday.

There is an antiwar demonstration on January 27 organized by United For Peace and Justice. Please come.

16. please see my post below, I don't necessarily disagree with one thing you say
a monday protest beginning at rush hour would make headlines.

The media hasn't coverd a protest or large demonstration in years.

5. Exactly.
But it seems that ANSWER is always on hand to hijack any protest and make it an ANSWER rally for whatever pet cause they have at the moment, and it never seems to be the same thing as what the tens of thousands of marchers around them are protesting.

If ANSWER is involved, I won't be.

11. Yes that is a good one, but I want DU to plan one and it be our protest.
our agenda our speakers.

People need time and a protest would work better on a week day.

14. I will repost this after the 27 demonstration. I don't want to seem
to be dismissive of it, because that was not my purpose. I want a million people to be there.
