Bush Warns That FAILURE In Iraq = Escalation NOT Graceful Exit (Robert Parry)

The U.S.-Iran-Iraq-Israeli-Syrian War

By Robert Parry
January 12, 2007

At a not-for-quotation pre-speech briefing on Jan. 10, George W. Bush and his top national security aides unnerved network anchors and other senior news executives with suggestions that a major confrontation with Iran is looming.

......

While some observers believe Israel or the Bush administration may be leaking details of the plans as a way to frighten Iran into accepting international controls on its nuclear program, other sources indicate that the preparations for a wider Middle Eastern war are very serious and moving very quickly.

Without doubt, Bush’s actions in the past two months – reaffirming his determination to succeed in Iraq and warning about a possible regional explosion if he fails – suggest that his future course is an escalation of the conflict, not some “graceful exit.”

1. Why would we need Patriot Missles
Iraq??? Who is going to be lobbing missles into Iraq thus
the Patriots intercept them??

Some think we will bait Iran into attacking us and this
then gives ADM the cover to bomb nuclear sites etc in Iran.
Speculations I picked up on TV.

4. Why would "us losing" be such a big deal?
I don't see why the U.S. "losing" in Iraq would be such a big deal. What's the big deal with Americans never losing? We lost in Vietnam. No one ever says it, but we did. And we're losing now.

Get the troops out, stop the killing, accept that we've lost and be done with it.

3. FAILURE = VICTORY
Iraq CAN'T succeed in order for Bush to achieve his ultimate goal, taking out Iran. Iraq is merely the means to an end at this point, and whether or not the entire country is left in rubble littered with bodies is of no consequence to Bush and the neocons.
