I'm still laughing about "Freedom Fries"
you know a bunch of hacks with about 15 seconds of fame are in power when they come up with that one.

Pouring French wine into the streets, dressing in flags from head to toe, calling Democrats traitors......

we are on the cusp of surviving this long national nightmare. all we have to do is rise up as individuals. if we can get to a protest against the war....we should do it. if not, then we can write to the local newspaper and/or call in to the local talk radio show and register displeasure and definitely write an email or call our congress people about it.

all of us together can defeat terrorists AND extremists worldwide INCLUDING BUSH.

1. I remember when O'Reilly started his big time boycott
...he stated "no more french wine at my house".
Then he quickly added almost as a disclaimer: "of course I'm not going to throw it out, but I will not serve it to my friends".

Hahaha what a commitment...He really went out on a limb there.
I think it was a charade because he has no friends.

2. Actually the congressman that proposed freedom fries broke down in tears in his apology for it
Edited on Fri Jan-12-07 04:01 AM by Hippo_Tron
He said that he felt so bad for the soldiers that lost their lives and that had he known it was based on a lie he never would've voted for the IWR. He also co-sponsored Jack Murtha's resolution to pull out of Iraq.

4. I saw "Freedom Fries" still being displayed at a concession stand at a
German-American club in Pennsylvania as late as 2006. I pointed out to the manager that not only is this symbolic gesture passe, but it is also interesting that a German-American club continue to have this on their menu. After all, during World War I, when German-Americans were the target of war fever, several food items reminiscent of Germany were renamed: hot dogs or Coney Islands (for frankfurters), Salisbury steak or liberty steaks (hamburgers), liberty cabbage (sauerkraut), etc. I don't understand as a group you can want to join your former aggressors and target another group as anti-American.
