Ron Paul to run for President again, this time as a Republican
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/11/AR2007011101424_pf.html

HOUSTON -- Rep. Ron Paul, the iconoclastic, nine-term lawmaker from southeast Texas, took the first step Thursday toward a second, quixotic presidential bid _ this time as a Republican.

Paul filed papers in Texas to create a presidential exploratory committee that will allow him to raise money. In 1988, Paul was the Libertarian nominee for president and received more than 400,000 votes.

Kent Snyder, the chairman of Paul's exploratory committee and a former staffer on Paul's Libertarian campaign, said the congressman knows he's a long shot.

"There's no question that it's an uphill battle, and that Dr. Paul is an underdog," Snyder said. "But we think it's well worth doing and we'll let the voters decide."-snip-

Well, if nothing else, the Repuke primary debates might be worth watching

4. Hear That Ripping...There Goes That Big Tent...
I interviewed Paul when he ran as a Libertarian in '88 and almost voted for the guy. Thanks to boooshie boy, we're about to see the implosion of the GOOOP as they shadow box around all sorts of issues and contradictions. I've been waiting to see a third party alternative pop up...either as a Repugnican, Libertarian or some other manifestation that will siphon votes away from the Repugnicans next year. There are lots of unhappy campers on that side looking for something other than Saint McCain, Ruderless Rudy, Mittens, Brownback Mountain or Hucklebee Hound...Paul was my choice to bolt on his own, but looks like he's gonna pick some corpses first.

Ron's gonna add some fireworks to the GOOP primary...and it'll be interesting if the corporate media gives him any notice at all. Here's hoping he gets some interest, makes some noise and then decides to go third party. My biggest hopes are there's a third party that emerges from the shambles of the GOOP next year that would all but guarantee an end to the boooooshie era and put a Democrat in the White House. Run Ron Run!!!!

5. As much as I can't stand a Libertarian..
... most would be preferable to a neocon, especially a stupid neocon.

In any event I agree, this is good news for Dems and for America.

7. The Libertarians have been hijacked by the worst kind of Neocons
They've become the party of pot-smoking Corporate Fascists.
