Previously I had only caught parts of it. What struck me is the odd, disjointed look on his face and his constant staring at the teleprompter, giving me the impression he was unfamiliar with the material and had to keep his eyes glued to the script to get through it. How scary is that?
The other thing that stuck out like a sore thumb and actually made me wince was that Joe Lieberman is the only politician mentioned by name in the entire speech. Thank you Joe!
Finally, if you go to the WH web site (
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/01/20070110-7.html# )you can see the speech, but if you look closely it is shown from a slightly different angle, somewhat off to the side, and not the same straight on camera used on live TV. It is a subtle difference, but it helps remove that deer in the headlights look that he had on live TV, though not much. So even the Chimp's handlers know just how pathetic he looked during the speech.
