If you could choose the GOP candidate in '08--who would you want it to be?

Which of the Republicans talking or being talked about possibly running would you like to see our Dems up against?

but he has jumped the shark with Bush, and I don't believe he is a viable candidate any longer. Even my republican mother finally gave up on the warmongers.

But after Condi finishes testifying this week, she would be the easiest to beat.

Totally unqualified to hold that position, willing to lie to protect Bush, disingenuous, etc.
And do not forget she is a noted 'shoe shopper' in times of crisis --but then again, compared to Bush that would be an asset.

Any Democrat should totally destroy her as the Republican nominee.

Repel the term limit amendment! George W. Bush and George Allen. I think Tricky Dicky is too old to run again as VP.

Who would be easier to beat than Dubya?

He's critical of Bush about the war, but he's still basically a conservative, which keeps the base happy. But he's a steady guy, not known for crazy remarks (McCain) or a promiscuous lifestyle (Rudy). If Hillary ends up being the Dem candidate, it would be hard for her to beat Hagel.

From a democratic point of view, Condi would be the best nominee, because racists will stay home, or will vote democratic. It's an ugly way to look at it, though.

Do we want someone who is relatively (compared to other candidates) tolerable, but has a reasonably good chance of winning, or someone who is intolerable but who has we believe has no chance?

At one point in 1980 I thought it might not be a bad thing if they nominated Reagan, since I thought he was too extreme to have any reasonable chance of winning.

So, I don't know what to say.

I think that McCain, Gulliani, and Hagel would be the most tolerable of the bunch listed by you, but I also think that they would have the best chance of winning. So I'm not sure what to hope for.

Hagel has been outspoken recently against the war. But he owned a voting machine company, and I believe that he still does.

We, naively, thought that nobody with more than two brain cells would vote for the faux cowboy idiot.

A guaranteed Democratic victory
