in a simple graph of members by numbers of posts, timelines of general numbers of posts, numbers with journals with content, views of postings? And such. With so many now with several years and thousands and postings the hint of intimidating status is much less. For example, all my posts except for a very few which I even then didn't like, are in the forms of replies to other posters. The nature of my time schedule does not make me feel I can do justice to hosting a discussion, and they drop off so fast.

Are vocal desertions and the deceased still on the books or is this every legitimate new membership since
inception minus cancellations?

I would like to see other internet blogs analyzed as well, not in any way as demeaning lurkers or inactive legions but really trying to get a feel for the diversity and the heavy participant levels. The small number of our founders and top luminaries do not dominate this group like other celebrity blogsters, even those without their names on the title, but to me seem to do an excellent job in actual moderating to the benefit of all.

I wish for more proliferation and activism for decent political blogs to more than rival the vaster numbers on entertainment or fan sites and totally bury deliberate anti-democratic tools and corporate propaganda efforts.

I suggested before and will suggest again that DU use this opportunity to further one of the causes dear to the hearts of the membership. It would be a great time to issue a press release or hold a press conference announcing the growth in membership and pushing for one (or more?) of these things:

Troops out now!
Stop expansion of war to Iran, Syria or anywhere else!
Bush/Cheney--RESIGN!
Rid the country of electronic voting machines!
