1. I do believe you are correct.
On the radio this morning coming in to work, they were talking about power outages. They said Tulsa is expected to receive between 1/2 inch to one inch of freezing rain. 1/2 inch of freezing rain on power lines snaps them, according to PSO (Public Service of Oklahoma). And one inch is classified as "catastrophic" for the power grid.

Temps in the teens and twenties. Nice. I'm leaving work early so I can at least make it home, but I'm not sure it's going to be so great being there if the power doesn't stay on.

4. Take care

...snow is one thing, but ice scares the crap out of me.

Stay safe.

Cheers

2. Yes, and my understanding is you're going to be sharing it with Texas
That looks pretty wicked too.

Thanks for reminding me I need to call my daughter and tell her to be careful when the storm reaches her. :hi:

10. Careful on the roads.
I just spoke with my daughter and she said it's already hitting where she lives too.

You guys be safe and stay warm.

8. Kansas too.
It was 67 degrees here yesterday. Right now it is 14 and it is supposed to stay there today. I hope it stays low tomorrow so we get snow instead of the freezing rain they are talking about. Good luck to you, it happened here a couple of years ago and I thought I would never get all the trees off my road so I could get out. Stock up and stay warm. :hi:

11. Where I am in the Hill Country we'll be only lightly hit with ice (I hope!)
My daughter is in north Texas and she said they already have ice pellets and freezing temps. They won't get above freezing for several days with this whopper of a front.

You guys be safe! Hunker down with a good book and plenty of tea.

13. Hope you don't get it too badly
then, we may not, it seems to me that a lot of it is south of us but you just never know with these things.

Cozy up, it looks like we are in for a week of cold and wet weather. I did bring my books from home so I could do just that.

7. We're missing this one in central NM
A layer of ice on top of all this damn snow, which is taking its own sweet time melting, would be worse than annoying.

We'll get the cold once it starts to whistle through the mountain passes later tonight.

Tomorrow, wood stove. Maybe oil lamp and battery powered radio. Power grids have a nasty habit of failing over a much larger area than has the snapped lines.

My condolences to you all. This winter has SUCKED for the west.

9. My sister lives near OKC.
I moved from southwest OK to northern CA in '04.

These ice storms are extremely nasty. Years ago we were without power for almost a week.

Stay save and take care, madokie. :hi:

17. Uh oh, already a power "blink" just now.
Here in Moore. Hopefully not a sign of worse things to come. Besides being cold, it'll be a lonely, boring weekend here without DU and the telly. :(
