"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security,
... unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

- President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 11/8/54

1. I think he knew
He did know Prescott Bush. So perhaps he knew their plans.

8. Oh, Ike knew
He just didn't have the guts to do anything about it. Didn't even say anything about it til his last day in office.

Ike was a very cautious man. He made his fame in WWII not by being a daring general, but rather by being a talented logistician. He may have been the architect of the D-Day invasion, but he didn't lead the way in a tank.

Conservatism was not always synonymous with unbridled greed and contempt for working Americans.

5. W never truly congratulates our working class
It's like he is blind to their value or existence. But then he nor his have ever worked a day in their lives.

"Work" is something they don't do.

7. Sure he does. He expresses confidence in how trainable we are.

After all, our job losses are merely a matter of getting new job training, right? :puke:

9. Eisenhower wouldn't be allowed in the door
of a repuke gathering today. He'd be considered a radical left wing wacko and vilified at every turn. Hell, Goldwater wouldn't even pass muster with today's repuke nutcases.
