Wires Reject Handout Photo Of Bush Speech
The White House broke with tradition Wednesday night and refused to let photojournalists shoot still pictures of the president at the podium after his prime-time address on the Iraq war.

As a result, newspapers and wire services had little choice but to run low-quality frame grabs from the video of the speech. An official handout photo from the White House, which most news outlets rejected, was the only other option. Caught in a bind on deadline, some newspapers ran the official White House photo with no disclosure that it was provided by the government.

Two major wire services, the Associated Press and Reuters, refused to accept the handout photo. They sent their members notices explaining that frame grabs from the White House video pool would be their only photo coverage of the speech.

"Reuters News Pictures regrets that due to restrictions imposed by the White House, Reuters will not be able to provide still photographs from President Bush's White House address on Iraq," the Reuters bulletin said.

it was taped.

...besides the thought I had to go into the kitchen and drink everything in the liquor cabinet.

Cuckoo-crazy talk goes down easier with Jim Beam, I've found.

25. Why not in the Oval Office?
The first question that came to my mind was why not in the Oval Office. If it was done in the Oval Office, Mr Bush would have been in fromt of the window and you'd be able to see the approximate time of the day. If it was taped, you'd need to be in a place where there were no clues to the time of day that it was taped. Second, why standing at a podium? He looked frankly terrible standing there stifly and unconfortably. Bush's handlers dropped the bag.

You're right about the Oval Office and the windows. That makes sense.

40. Videotape is a good guess
When I watched *'s stem cell speech from the pig farm the view through the window was of a twilight sky. It was pitch dark here in California, though.

BTW, the lights used for the stem cell speech attracted insects which in turn attracted several bats which were darting all around *'s head throughout the speech. Fitting, I thought.

7. Friend of a friend of a friend says no press was allowed there live.
they were ALL watching the feed. The source works for Christian Science Monitor and said normally these occasions call for at least several news agencies to have access to a speech live, chosen by lottery. As far as he knows no one but white house staff was present during the speech and there was speculation even before it aired that it was taped.

"Henry what's a 55mm nug?"

In the context of a scene where Frank Burns asks Henry Blake for a gun to shoot down enemy fighter planes. Henry reads the requisition upside down. Hence the nug. (I guess, it just looks backwards not upside down.)

The image on the white house's website has no exif information on the image. None. Scrubbed.

Hummmm.

Wonder why?

Because it is a lie. It was taped. By the end of the speechification, the decider was asleep in Condi's arms.

on edit... just to check, I went to the WH website and chose 10 images at random... ALL of them had full exif data. go figure.

32. If that speech was taped then this administration has completely lost their PR ability.
That speech SUCKED not just because of what he said, but he looked terrible saying it. He was obviously nervous as hell and it showed big time. The whole performance was a bomb, a massive bomb. It was probably the worst he ever looked in a Prime Time speech, so if this thing was taped and this was the best they could get you could only imagine how bad the rest of the cuts had to be.

39. Was that speech the state of the union speech?
I'm Canadian so I don't follow US politics that much. That speech was taped no doubt in my mind. Where's the camera shots of mindless dumbfucks applauding. Like in Bush's other state of the union speech's?

I remember the 2003 state of the union speech with shots of shitloads of mindless dumbfucks applauding Bush.

LMAO at dumbfuck Bush. He can't even muster up a handful of applauding rich fuck's in 2007. ;)

LMAO HaHa

That comes later in the month, and as you say, is always given in the House of Representatives with the Senate and Supreme Court and other guests also present. In prior years he was riding high and getting his applause. Somehow I think this year will be different, if he even makes it that far.

41. FASCINATING thread
I agree it was taped - it explains the library, the no-photos...

If it was taped, it might have been done a day or so earlier. That adds credibility to the speculation about what russert and williams may have seen - maybe he WAS in the bag! Maybe not sufficiently that they dared say so, but suspicious. I rejected that earlier because even tho he looked like crap in the speech, he was too coherent for someone on a bender.

That the MSM hasn't glommed on to this is disturbing, albeit not surprising. Remember his radio device in the debates? That was NEVER adequately explained - they just dropped it. He's gotten so many passes its impossible to add them up. This one though, could be quite the story in the current atmosphere. Someone needs to just grill that puke snow about it mercilessly. I think with enough pressure the lying lackey just might slip up and let the cat out of the bag.

You would not actually see the difference on your television screen because every one else in the room would be behind the cameras. Although if it were live they probably would have held it in the Oval Office, and Bush would have looked even worse if that is possible.
