Can you say AUTO-PEN?
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 11:50 PM by blogslut
From the 60 Minutes video, and I quote:

PELLEY VOICEOVER: "The President told us he reads a casualty report every morning and personally signs every letter to the families of Americans killed in action."

Anybody wanna bet that is a damned dirty lie?

1. Maybe that's his busy work project
to keep him occupied between naptime and potty and X-box time.

He sickens me.

2. Actually I don't. It would take him less than an hour every day. nt.

11. Right...not very many to sign everyday. It is more than plausible to me. nt.

12. sigh
Two a day. Sixty-Three a month.

I guess he's lucky he doesn't have to sign letters for those merely wounded. That would be more like 33 per day and 1000 a month. What luck, huh?

13. Hey I wish he didn't have any to sign. I'm merely pointing out that it wouldn't
take up much of his daily schedule to sign each and every one.

15. Logistically, yes
I still don't believe him when he says he signs them personally. I just don't

17. I do...if for no other reason than it is a good PR point to say that he does.
On second thought, I'll update and say that I think it is highly likely that the letters are not rubberstamp signed. Now, whether or not it is Bush doing the actual signing is less clear.

19. Then why didn't he it say it on camera?
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 01:48 AM by blogslut
Seems if it was such good PR, little boots would be thrilled to brag. He sure smirked his way through that I-meet-personally-with-grieving-families photo-op.

21. Who knows...perhaps he does, perhaps he doesn't. I think that he does.
And it wouldn't require much time each morning, though more time than it ever should.

3. And how stupid for Pelley to actually believe that.
I'm not impressed with Mr. Pelley.

He has signed his name to hundreds of blank pieces of presidential stationery to be used as needed.

7. I care
He said he did. If he's lying that would be one more insult to the soldiers and their families. How many insults do they have to suffer before enough is enough?

14. From the 60 Minutes comment board:
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 01:29 AM by proud2Blib
He "personally signs every letter to the families of Americans killed in action". That's ***. My chin hit the floor when I heard him say this. Our son, SGT Justin D. Norton, was killed in Iraq this past June. We received many "signed" letters from strangers, state leaders, and people from congress. When we received a letter from the president it was evident it was just a "stamp" with Bushes name. Shame on you Bush. R.I.P. Justin www.justinnorton.net
