OMG! I STILL Have Chills & A Greater Understanding Of Dwight Eisenhower!
Not feeling well today, I decided to cruise around my DISH T.V for something to watch when I saw one that I thought might be interesting. I don't know if it's been out there for while or not, but I NEVER even saw it OR heard about it!

It's called "Why We Fight" a film by Eugene Jarecki. You can check it out at www.whywefight.com! In the beginning it shows clips of Dwight Eisenhower and "the military industrial complex" and what he said. I can recall being very very young and having this complete dislike for him, but now I'm not so sure... one of the last statements made by him in 1961 as he left office was "Let Security & Liberty Prosper Together!" I NEVER knew the man!

There are clips of McCain... talking in NEGATIVE terms about going into Iraq. Karen Kwaikowski is featured, Richard Perle is talking as if he wishes he was never part of it. He states in the film... Americans have the notion that if we get rid of a few people at the top, that we can go back to the way we were -- We Can't!

There are generals, journalists (Dan Rather) and many many others... Iraqis talking about how America will lose in the end featured too!

I may be behind the times, but this movie should be seen by EVERY American or every person in the world! I saw it on Starz Cinema, but thought I saw it was going to be repeated on 1/29/2007 at 10:00 PM. So IF you haven't seen it yet, please check it out or link to www.whywefight.com

I feel exactly the way I felt back when I realized that the U.S. Government lied to me during the Viet Nam War, only many times worse! It almost says that "one man" has ruined America FOREVER! And we KNOW who that is!!

1. Excellent documentary. That has Chalmers Johnson in it, too, right?
Read one of his books recently, pretty chilling stuff even if he's only halfway right about present direction.

8. Sorrows of Empire is the book I was thinking of. I wasn't sure if
he was in this movie, or Uncovered, but http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0436971/ shows him listed. Uncovered is also recommended.

4. agreed
saw it a few months ago and it's power is in the same zone as Colbert at the White House Press Corps Dinner or any recent Olbermann special comments.

It is required watching for any D.U. oriented person.

5. Sorry your not feeling well but glad you got to see it
Eisenhower was a good man but not perfect. To see the darker side, research the Bonus Army.

6. Why we fight is an excellent film
Gave me a much greater appreciation for Eisenhower. He was absolutely right. Subsequent presidents have largely been steamrolled by the military industrial complex.
