10. As a person in Illinois, Obama can get the good old boys.

Illinois is 2 states. the north is like Wisconsin. The south is like Alabama. it is the real south. yet he was mobbed and is very much supported by the white good old boys. And the upper class republican districts by chicago love him as well.
His appeal does carry the indies and the repugs who are sick to death of Bush style politics.
So, I really don't give the "he can't appeal to the south" that much weight.
