there's no one thread now about Isaiah Washington's use of the f-word.
(I know that sounds childish, but I refuse to use either word.)

Why is there no discussion of it?

one is a symptom of systemic and pervasive racism, the other is (depending on your POV) either offensive and rude, or a great modifier;)

disregard my dumbass statement...I thought the F word in question was FUCK! In the case of this F word, see first half and replace racism with homophobia

2. I really don't care about either.
Words are just words.

7. It's easy to say "words are just words" when the words don't apply to you. nt

But none of it bothers me.

3. I, for one, don't find the word "FUCK" to be particularly offensive...
Maybe others share that sentiment...

6. Me either. But that wasn't the word he used.
He used a 6 letter word beginning with f to describe a fellow castmember who's gay,

15. You may have wanted to be more specific in your OP to avoid confusion?
I was admittedly confused too. And I am not specific enough a lot of times either so its no biggie.

Peace.

4. It might be because there was no footage
If there was film of it, it would be a much bigger deal for sure.

The heated controversy at ABC's top show, "Grey's Anatomy," boiled over Thursday as the network rebuked co-star Isaiah Washington for an anti-gay comment and Washington issued a lengthy apology.

"We are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed `unfortunate' in his previous public apology," the network said in a statement.

... During a backstage interview Monday at the Globes gala, Washington denied involvement in a heated on-set incident in October during which an anti-gay remark was reportedly uttered.

"No, I did not call (co-star) T.R. (Knight) a faggot," Washington told reporters. "Never happened, never happened."

In his apology Thursday, Washington acknowledged "repeating the word Monday night."

18. Part of the fuss seems over-done to me
He is now getting jumped for repeating the word, the same way that you just did. Now in another clip I was lead to, he is on Access Hollywood talking about the 'F-word' and just like on this thread people are going to think he means 'fu$%' rather than 'bundle of sticks'.

So Isaiah vehemently denied it on Access Hollywood, but T.R. said that Isaiah did say it on Ellen. However, T.R. also says that he heard it as he was coming around a corner, so did he hear it right. But Isaiah has not said, if he did not say the word T.R. thinks he did, then what did he say? Unlike Michael Richards, Isaiah was not caught on tape except in his denial, which is not the same thing.

13. Two reasons come to mind. One, the media isn't blasting it, so many
people haven't heard of it. Two, Michael Richards didn't just utter the word, he repeated it over and over and over again, aiming it directly at two people he was trying to verbally beat down with the word. Washington uttered it once to deny using the word. Seemed more of a slip than a deliberate attack. Not excusing it, just saying that Richards' meltdown was much more stunning.

16. Well...
...for some it is not as big a "deal." It is not much different, IMO, than those who are constantly making remarks about so-and-so being gay, transgendered, or bisexual. I feel, for some, it is about exposing hypocrisy, but for others, I feel it is because on some level, they still see something wrong or deficient about being gay.
