Who did Maliki just throw under the bus?
Reports on CNN just now claim that a major Al Sadr aid was just captured by a combo US & Iraqi team. CNN claims that Maliki's willingness to prosecute this detainee will signal his true "willingness to take on the radical cleric".

My guess is that it is a minor functionary who al Sadr & Maliki agreed on ahead of time. (If it's NOT a minor guy... there will be some sleight of hand and he will wander back off into the wilderness)

3. The Sadrists claim he is just a spokesman, but they are upset.
According to an article in todays Guardian, Sadr fears for life in security crackdown,
Sadr and his family have gone into hiding.

Of course, the Maliki government has been known to let Shi'ite militants go.
It wouldn't surprise me if many of these 400 captured militiamen are quietly
released once the initial "surge" blows over.
