5. welcome, and mois trois
imagine him and the short tree debating Israel-Palestine:

terra /9/11 /terra /9/11 /voices in me head supporting israel

vs.

what is happening in palestine is a tragedy that could and should be avoided. Apartheid is the best description.

2. This country doesn't deserve an ex-president as good as him.
He's set a standard for integrity, conscience, and good works that few could match.

I thought that they had SS protection for life???

And Jimmy Carter is one of the most human and down to Earth people and past Presidents we
have ever had, I would be in awe, and honored to meet him and be in his presence.

17. He still has SS protection as of 6 months ago and had it in 2004.
6 months ago our company did a big thing with Habitat along with other big companies and I attended. Carter was there and had 2 agents along that tried really hard to just blend in.

Also in 2004 someone I know was on a commercial flight with Carter and was told at the gate they needed to change his seat to accomodate Carter's security detail.

40. If an 80+ year old man
who has always spoken his mind needs to fear responses from sycophants, he may as well be dead. Carter is 100% correct. Sometimes the raw truth hurts, but it remains the truth. The 'so called' fallout is water on a duck's back to a statesman like Jimmy Carter.

For the record the first person to use the word apartheid to describe the Palestinian situation was an Israeli member of parliament.

45. Carter speaks the truth
So they come up with propaganda groups like this one
http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/1437

Created “to defend America's war on terrorism against those who would weaken the nation's resolve and erode our commitment to end the international menace of terrorism,” AVOT advocated Bush's pro-war policies “where needed most—college campuses, seminar rooms, editorial pages, and other media outlets.”

During its inaugural press conference, AVOT leaders announced that as part of the effort to combat the internal “threat” posed by dissidents of Bush's war on terrorism, they had compiled a list of statements by professors, legislators, and writers that the group deemed objectionable—an effort that mirrored an earlier initiative to monitor war opponents by the American Council of Trustees and Alumni, a group founded by Lynne Cheney, the wife of Vice President Dick Cheney, and Lieberman. Among those listed were Lewis Lapham, the longtime editor of Harper's Magazine, former President Jimmy Carter, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), and novelist John Edgar Wideman.

48. Alex Cockburn on Carter

"But the assault on Carter is all to no avail. With each gust of abuse, Carter’s book soars higher and higher on the bestseller lists, reaching number 4 on Amazon itself. This doesn’t prove the lobby has no power. It proves the lobby can be dumb."
