No One Anticipated ‘Eruption Of Sectarian Violence’
---

More proof of the incompetence running the Executive branch, of our government.

Snow: Things Were ‘Going Okay’ In Iraq A Year Ago, No One Anticipated ‘Eruption Of Sectarian Violence’

In today’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow argued that the “picture” in Iraq “constantly changes,” and that while the future looks bleak now, a year ago “Democrats and Republicans both coming back from the region saying, you know, we think things are going okay.” He added that no one anticipated the “eruption of sectarian violence.”

1. Is that the same as
when they said no one could have anticipated an attack on the US?

2. Apparently condi applies the fall of the Soviet Union model to all
situations, so this is no surprise.

7. Noone except Ivor van Herder of the LSU Hurricane Center, and the NOLA
press, specifically the Times Picayune... and the State of Louisiana and the Federal Government...

Noone expected the breakdown of Iraqi society, except for all the generals to whom Rumsfeld replied STFU when they broached it...

6. Things were going "okay" in Iraq a year ago?
What arrogant spin. Things on the sectarian front fell apart in Iraq shortly following the invasion four years ago. Anyone who visited Iraq a year ago and thought things were "okay" didn't bother looking past the view from the Green Zone.

9. Is it better to be seen as incompetent than being
seen as a liar?

10. no one expected 9-11, all our information said wmds were there --
no one expected this -- no one expected that -- and on and on --

we are the richest and most powerful nation on earth.

we spend more on intelligence and spying and analysis than any one else -- by an extraordinary amount.

so -- tony snowjob -- do you want to THINK about what you are trotting out as an excuse -- compared to certain rock hard realities?

because you and these other excuses aren't making look very good on a very, very consistent basis -- and we don't seem to be learning -- according to your excuses.

12. Everyone warned Bush of this prospect
Most notably, France on the eve of the invasion of Iraq in 2003 warned that Iraq could be torn up and engulfed in violence, that terrorism in the world could increase as a result, and that the conflict could possibly spread throughout the Middle East. I hope it doesn't get that bad.

It seems that the continuing prime directive of this administration is to boldly deny what no man could have ever dared to deny before.

13. Perhaps I am wrong....
but my perception is the level of violence exploded right after Negroponte went to Iraq. He wasn't there for long, I'm not sure what his official role was to be, but it seems as if that is when there was a noticeable escalation. Does anyone else have that same perception?

14. Some related facts:

1. Iraq has a history of sectarian violence predating the Ottoman Empire.
2. Britain had attempted to quell sectarian violence when they conquered Iraq in the early 20th century..
3. Daddy Bush stated in his book that this was one reason he didn't finish off Saddam in 1991.

The bushies are bullshitting liars of the highest degree.
