the show, not just Stan himself. But I have heard Seth declare himself a liberal Dem. His alter-ego on FG is Brian (not kidding), who reads the Utne Reader and wants to rename James Woods High to MLK.

It is satire, it echoes right-wing talking points only to show their absurdity. Stan is the absolute most ridiculous figure on the show, and he is there to mock the entire Republican agenda. Seriously watch the show again and tell and pay attention to just how ridiculous the things that come out of the right-wing characters mouths are. The show is complete satire, and it is satire aimed to show just how pathetic right-wing views are.

Seriously I am surprised that American Dad is not the most popular television sitcom among DUers because it is really great satire.

that ep a couple weeks ago where Stan does an "It's A Wonderful Life" thing and discovers that if Reagan hadn't been shot, McGovern would have won in 1984 and surrendered the US to the USSR, was pretty rude.

While I did not see that episode I can imagine it because it does sound totally consistent with Stan's character. He views everything from an extreme right wing perspective, and he would believe that McGovern would surrender to the Soviets just like he would believe that all Democrats are best friends with Osama bin Laden. Anyone who watches the show knows however that Stan is a complete extremist nutcase, and we laugh at his fantasies because they are just so absurd. American Dad does basically the same thing that Steven Colbert does in his comedy, he repeats right-wing talking points in a context which shows their absurdity. If you can recognize satire you will find that Stan is one of the most hilarious characters on television today, you are supposed to laugh at his right-wing talking points not take them literally.

with the book report by telling him that Denver is 200,000 ft above sea level so it's called the Windy City was pretty hilarious. Stan is definitely a right-wing blowhard.
