Poll question: Which Democratic Candidate are you supporting?
The United States presidential election of 2008 will be held on November 4, 2008. The Democratic primaries will be held on:
January 14, 2008 - Iowa
January 19, 2008 - Nevada
January 22, 2008 - New Hampshire
January 29, 2008 - South Carolina
February 5, 2008 - Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Utah
February 12, 2008 - District of Columbia, Tennessee, Virginia
February 19, 2008 - Wisconsin
February 26, 2008 - Hawaii, Idaho

Several candidates have already thrown their hats into the ring. Which candidate are you supporting and for what reasons?

1. Edwards '08!
We were big supporters of Edwards in '04 and I still believe that had we elected him in the primary he would be President right now. I'll be supporting him again in '08 and hopefully my first vote will be for him. Not only do I believe he is very electable, but he has also come forward and said "I was wrong" when he voted to approve the war in Iraq. He has backbone and a plan to get America back on track and I support him 100%.

Edwards '08! :D

Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 09:30 PM by Clark2008
If Wes doesn't run, I'll have more than a year to figure out who it will be, but not today.

I can tell you it won't be Edwards or HRC, though. And if Edwards gets the nomination, I'll leave this board, because I won't be able to support the Democratic nominee. I won't vote Republican, though. I'll just find someone else to vote for and/or write in.

9. exactly
:rofl:

Here's some info about him:

Mike Gravel, former Senator Mike Gravel, born May 13, 1930, in Springfield, Massachusetts. U.S. Senator from Alaska from 1969 to 1981 and an active candidate for Vice President in 1972. He was notable for advocating a guaranteed annual income, which he termed a "citizen's wage," of $5,000 per person, irrespective of whether the person worked. On April 13, 2006, Gravel announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination. His policy announcements to date include support for direct democracy, FairTax and withdrawal from Iraq. His is considered a very longshot candidacy since former Sen. Gravel will be 78 years old at the time of the general election and will have been out of federal politics for almost three decades at the time of the election. Interestingly, a Zogby poll taken on November 3, 2006 taken on candidate biographies and accomplishments of potential Democratic candidates had Gravel in second place, tied with John Kerry and slightly behind Hillary Clinton. Mike Gravel filed with the FEC in April according to various news sources. The FEC's site has listed his reports since July.

* U.S. Senator from Alaska: 1969–1981
* Alaska State Representative: 1962-1966 (Speaker: 1965-1966)

Here's his site: http://www.gravel2008.us/

16. Not all candidates under consideration for 08 are included in your poll.
If you are polling for announced or exploratory committee candidates only, your question is misdirected.

"Of the following announced candidacies, which gets your vote?" is different from polling support for a voter's first-choice candidacy.

not the primaries. i'm just worried he couldn't carry over middle of the road and conservative voters and they are the one that won us the '06 elections and will win us the '08 elections.

24. I will likely vote for Kucinich in the primary
There are other candidates who I think would be stronger electability-wise, but ideologically I believe I am the closest to Kucinich. Texas's primary is so late in the game that the nomination has already been decided before we vote anyway, so I will likely do as I did in '04 and simply vote my conscience.

35. Race and gender aside (though I do believe that will be
a factor, and is another reason why the M$M is pushing these candidates), I don't think Hillary Clinton will be elected because she has too much baggage and there are too many hypocrisies/inconsistencies in her history for me to be comfortable with (and I'd like to vote for her, and likely would if she had a different stance on the IW) and quite frankly, a lot of people just dislike her! I don't think she will win. Same with Obama...too little experience. His political genius has nothing whatsoever to do with race.

36. Edwards
Something about him reminds me of Bobby Kennedy. I came of age back then and remember him well. After his assassination, I tried to get to St. Pat's to pay my respects, but the lines stretched out for blocks from the church. I often wonder what the world would have been like if he had survived.

Yes, definitely I would vote Edwards in the Primary. Hillary is my Senator and I have voted for her twice. If she is the Democratic Candidate, then I will vote for her. No, she's not my top choice.

He may not have a chance in hell because he's viewed by most as "too progressive" or "not charismatic", but I disagree on both counts. He's REAL, he's HONEST, and he's STEADY as the day is long. I plan on switching parties to Dem just to vote for him in the presidential primaries this time.
