Democrats should use all of the power that they have to bring the troops home now. I'm disgusted by this give Bush enough rope to hang himself strategy that they are pursuing right now. Human lives are more valuable than an election, period.

I honestly doubt that if Democrats cut the funding it will make them lose the 2008 election. But if that is the case, I will suffer through another four years of Republican rule. Any damage that President McCain, President Romney, President Brownback, or President Giuliani does to this country can be undone. Our soldiers, however, cannot be brought back from the dead.

a Republican President will bring the troops home? Forgive me, but I don't quite get the argument you're making.

2. I mean, Congress will bring the troops home NOW
They can't stay in Iraq without money, cut the funding and we will bring them home. That way we will be out of Iraq before the next President takes office.

the troops home.

7. The 2008 defense appropriations bill will only include money for withdrawing from Iraq
We get to write the bills because we control the committees. What exactly is the GOP going to do about it? Filibuster the defense appropriations bill? Veto the defense appropriations bill? They won't do that because then we'll run ads saying that they voted against funding our troops.

8. It's not fair, but it may actually be the fastest way.
Unfortunately, we are not privy to all of the information, and much of what we are given is a lie or a distraction. We are put in the uncomfortable position of having to trust our Democratic representatives without them necessarily having earned our trust (or being deserving it). Hopefully we'll see something done next week.

9. Another Republican who would send them into Iran (or another nation) instead of Iraq?
Anyway, this is how politics works. The threat of removal from office or decreasing the chances for your friends to keep their power is the only real weapon you have against other politicians in a democracy. Democrats are handling this pretty well by trying to make this a bipartisan pullout.

11. Romney and McCain can do a lot more damage because
they are insane. Listen to them. Romney will do and say anything to get elected. Look at his stands from when he went after Kennedy's seat. Complete opposite from what he is saying today. McCain has mental problems and a bad temper. Rudy is just a shell and gadfly.
