Democrats.com: "Is Karl Rove Planning a Terror Attack on the Super Bowl?"
From link:
Bob Fertik asks, "is Karl Rove planning a terrorist attack during the Super Bowl, in order to set the stage for building towards war with Iran over the coming year?"

Let's pray he isn't planning such an attack, but there are plenty of reasons to fear that he might be - starting with Bush's dismal polls, bottomless Republican scandals, serious Senate hearings on NSA wiretapping, November's Congressional elections, and of course all of the Iraq War provocations and lies.

1. My best friend is going to the Super Bowl and this is
what her fellow teachers told her, that there might be a terrorist attack!

I told her the only terror would be Joey Porter and Troy Polamalu attacking the Seahawk offense :-).

GO STEELERS!

edit to add that I pray this doesn't come to pass but these fascists have already demonstrated their evil ways. 9/11 mihop/lihop,Torture, no child left behind, wmd, stolen election 2000, diebold et al 2004, Valerie Plame, medicare, abramoff, scooter, jeff gannon, swift boat, paid propagandists, etc., etc., etc. I could go on and on as most of you know.

Kick and reccomend to keep this out there as a pre-emptive warning/enlightenment if you will.

it's terrible that there's a DOUBLE fear:

- fundamentalist terrorists
- neocons who facilitate the terrorists for their own gain.

It's a sad time.

9. You know, I live in the Detroit area...
and a very close friend of mine is a Sargent on the Detroit Police force. I spent a portion of last weekend in the area of the Super bowl, there were some roads blocked off but other than that I saw no signs of any extraordinary measures taken (no helicopters, no police cars, none on foot). Coming back across the border from Canada I wasn't even asked for ID and I had been hassled two previous times by US Customs.

When I asked my friend if they were worried about a terrorist attack, I got no answer at all from him. He only asked if I was taking my son down for the activities. I really don't know what to think of his non-answer.

You are correct that Detroit has the largest concentration of Arabs outside the middle east and I think that if terror attacks were such a big threat to us from the Arabs, that they wouldn't wait until now. Detroit just has too many good targets, Eastern Market, the Renascence Center, Greek Town.. GM, Ford and chrysler.. the list goes on and on.

If something does happen down there this weekend, I'll know it was bush and his buddies.

The league has replaced CSC with three smaller firms: S.A.F.E. Management and Guardian Corporation, both out of Detroit, and the North Carolina-based Alpha Protection Group. But they don't have the manpower of CSC, which manages 19 of the NFL's 32 stadiums, and have had to subcontract out to other security firms.

Theres No website for or any info on Alpha Protection Group.

27. This sounds ominously familiar..
The WTC replaced its original elevator maintenance firm (Otis) with the mysterious ACE, which went out of business shortly after 9/11.

About 80 ACE technicians were on the premises that morning, and all of them escaped without injury--they just left and went home, in violation of emergency procedures.

22. They own the senate and the hearings. A few dem hardliners
will be allowed to rattle sabers so that the media can belittle them after the fact, and a few repubs will stray for a moment with serious faces, showing their "concern" for the constitution. But in the end, nothing will change. Bush will be exonerated and held up as a hero for taking extraordinary measures to assure our safety and security.

26. How on earth do you relate THAT to what the poster said?
He or she said, "These kind of statements just benefit the Re pukes by giving them something to use as an example of the left being a bunch of wackos."

The way I interpret that, as far as the context he or she said it, is that the poster is trying to help our situation by trying to keep us from looking so UTTERLY foolish with ridiculous posts about things like Rove creating a terrorist attack on the Super Bowl.

iamalevi2 is absolutely correct. Saying things like that only helps the cause of the repukes. It makes us look like imbeciles and like we're posting out of paranoia and desperation.

18. Bob Fertik has been watching too many movies —

Bruce Dern is ideally cast as Lander, a crazed Vietnam veteran, in Black Sunday. Lander joins terrorists Dahlia (Marthe Keller) and Fasil (Bekim Fehmu) in a plot to create a bloodbath at the annual Super Bowl. Piloting the ubiquitous Goodyear blimp, Lander is to ram the aircraft into the capacity Orange Bowl crowd, then fire thousands of poisoned darts into the fleeing spectators. Israeli military officer Kabakov (Robert Shaw) struggles to thwart Lander's plan before it comes to fruition. As unbelievable as it may sound on paper, Black Sunday is wholly credible on film. -- Hal Erickson

If they would steal an election or two, invade a soverign nation for lies and let 9/11 happen, as I think the evidence shows they may well have done, what wouldn't they do to retain power?

No "cakewalk" in Iraq
Abuses at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib
Al-Qaeda #3 capture during '04 Dem Convention
Bin Laden '04 "October Surprise"

PHILADELPHIA - During the last few years, the NFL has tried to stage a more cost-efficient Super Bowl. But it could be playing with fire in its latest money-saving attempt.
The league has cut ties with the nationally respected security firm it has used for the last 29 Super Bowls, California-based Contemporary Services Corporation. It will go a less expensive route this year, hiring three smaller, less-experienced companies to handle security for Super Bowl XL next week in Detroit.
The league sure has picked a strange time to make a security switch of this magnitude, considering that next week's game will be played just a half-mile from an international border. (Detroit is across the river from Windsor, Ontario.) It also comes just three weeks after the latest taped threat of a terrorist attack by Osama bin Laden.
NFL sources told the Philadelphia Daily News that the league felt CSC, which is considered the top "big-event" security firm in the country, had become too pricey. The league challenged nearly $500,000 of its billing from CSC for last year's Super Bowl in Jacksonville, sources said.

Super Bowl Sunday
terror chatter high
Release of al-Qaida tapes seen as tip on timing of future attacks

There is increased "chatter" in the terrorist world about a major new attack in the West – a sign often leading to an impending strike;

The date Feb. 5 has been specifically referenced in some of this chatter;

The date is significant to Osama bin Laden;

Much of the western world will be watching television that day;

The release of al-Qaida videotapes seems to provide clues about the dates of future attacks and, in this scenario, Feb. 5 becomes the most likely near-term terror strike date.
Terror attacks seem to follow the release of al-Qaida videos by about 30 days. Some intelligence analysts are noting the significance of the release of videos recently by both Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri

46. agreed, and Super Sunday is purely American
they're more likely to go after another high profile target on Super Sunday because we're paying so much attention to the Super Bowl that day.

However, Super Sunday is purely American in nature. The WTC is not the highest profile target in NYC if you asked Americans. If you asked Americans prior to 9/11, they would have listed the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Yankee Stadium, Rockefeller Center and a few other places before the WTC. However, outside the US, the WTC was a major symbol of US capitalism. Yankee Stadium means little to people outside the US, except maybe in Latin America where baseball is big.

Most serious crimes are solved by following those who have motive.

55. Are any indispensable BushCo. & signatory PNAC members attending?
That would be a good indicator, of an attack on the Super Bowl.

Along with whether Wealthy Elite BushCo. Financiers and Republican Members of Congress guarding, covering up, and preventing investigations that would lead to truth finally being "officially" revealed, will be in attendance at the Super Bowl.

56. And don't forget, Rolling Stones-half time act
Sweet Neo Con

You ride around your white castle,
On your little white horse
You lie to your people,
and blame it on your war of course
You call yourself a Christian,
I call you a hypocrite
You call yourself a patriot,
well I think you're full of sh*t

Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?
You parade around in costume,
Expecting to be believed
But as the body bags stack up,
We believe we've been deceived
The horror you've unleashed,
Will backfire with more grief
When will you ever learn,
Sweet Neo Con,
as the world burns?

Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time to drop the bomb?

How come you're so wrong?
My sweet neo-con,
where's the money gone,
in the Pentagon.
It's liberty for all,
democracy's our style,
unless you are against us,
then it's prison without trial.

Think about it.

60. Conspiracy theory
Perhaps...but anyone who has taken a look at the 9/11 facts out there surely has good reason to question the "official" version of what happened. There are just too many coincidences here - could they ALL be coincidence?

61. terrorist attack would hurt Bush. The only thing he has going for him,
is the illusion that he is tough on terror. He will not be able to defend his spying program anymore either.

"Yessiree ... we're keeping you safe, just like we told you we would. Now, who wants to tell me that domestic wiretapping is a bad thing?"

64. it would seem a target that would fit their needs perfectly
1. proximity to Canada, who could be blamed for 'letting the bad guys in'
2. huge concentration of arabs/muslims to blame it on as well
3. congressional hearings into spying soon/fitzgerald investigaton proceeding, both of which are potentially very damaging to bush and his minions. many have theorized that once the heat is on bush too much, the us would suffer an attack
4. that 'new security' thing is damned odd.
5. the US is far overdue for an al qaeda strike

66. To be quite frank if a bomb goes off in detroit no one may notice...
They have slapped lipstick on this pig for the superbowl, but most of the country has no idea how closely Detroit remsembles Bahgdad when you get off the beaten path --it's a war zone looking place out in the neighborhoods.

The lower 9th ward was lovely compared to the shit I saw in detroit last summer when I worked there.

It's hideous.

70. I think MIHOP II (if you will) could well come this year....
BushCo needs something to "explain" the next mid-term election theft.

The Super Bowl (coming after Alito was hurriedly confirmed, but before the NSA spying hearings) would be interesting timing.

I live in Pittsburgh. I'd say 80% of the people here are running around dressed in Black and Gold. I fear for the pro-war climate that would be Pittsburgh if there was a Super Bowl attack.

Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 07:21 AM by DanCa
Were dealing with a group of wackos who bomb clinics and kill doctors to stop abortions.
I really hate this world, and I hate what I am becoming because of them. I can see Rove doing this remember he outed a female CIA agent. If he wanted to "silence" a woman who was doing her job he's capable of anything.
