Don't be fooled by Sonny Perdue's sudden reverence for Mrs. King
Sonny rose to the governorship on the backs of racists, using the state flag as a wedge issue. He was one of the Republicans who, despite the odds and the polls, won his seat when Diebold was installed in Georgia.

He appalled me and countless others with his tasteless inauguration speech:

In his victory speech, Perdue declared the end of Democratic dominance in Georgia by quoting the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.: "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we're free at last." It must have been a jarring moment for anyone, especially blacks, watching the celebration on television -- a Republican who wants to unfurl a segregationist flag borrowing the stirring words of the great civil rights leader who died for the cause of desegregation.

3. Yes
he actually had the nerve.

Afterwards, a plane flew across the sky carrying a confederate flag banner, and his "supporters" all starting firing their guns in the sky.
