We have less than five weeks to save our country. The Patriot Act was extended for five weeks. The Bushistas are starting a strong-arm campaign to make all of the provisions permanent. We cannot allow this to happen. Some of the latest provisions are worse than imagined. Bush and his fascists have declared war on the constitution and our hard-won freedoms. By doing nothing we risk losing all of that.

Write your congresscritters, especially the GOP ones. Write your senators. Write, fax and write again. Write letters to the editor of your local paper. Complain about specific provisions in the current act. Make your position clear.

if we get even a percentage of the response we managed with Alito, we can win this critical fight. But we must start now. We at DU can make this happen. Let's contact Kos, and other boards and ask for their help.

`(a) There is hereby created and established a permanent police force, to be known as the `United States Secret Service Uniformed Division'. Subject to the supervision of the Secretary of Homeland Security, the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division shall perform such duties as the Director, United States Secret Service, may prescribe in connection with the protection of the following:
