Stop it.

It's WHEN.

WHEN the shrub is trimmed to the ground and cast aside.
WHEN Cheney is arrested.
WHEN Delay is convicted.
WHEN Abramoff is sentenced to twenty years.
WHEN Kenny Boy is forced to personally reimburse the people for all that pension money he stole.
WHEN Rush finds himself sharing a bunk with Bubba for twenty years.
WHEN O'Lielley goes berserk live and on camera and they have to shoot him with a tranquilizer rifle.
WHEN the Democrats take both Houses back.
WHEN the Patriot Act is overturned.
WHEN this nation is stopped permanently from spying on its own citizens.
WHEN the voting fraud in Florida and Ohio is exposed by the discovery and release of factual information.
WHEN Big Oil is exposed for all the price gouging it's done since the year 2000.
WHEN the White House is finally forced to completely abandon the madness of a false war.
WHEN our young soldiers stop dying for a lie.

Remember. It's not IF. It's WHEN.

Learn it. Live it. Love it.

2. We should start a DU calendar pool.
Closest pick to the date of actual meltdown wins the pot.

3. Okay........WHEN Hell freezes over....
...all of what you want will happen. Sorry........I don't say "if" either......I'm a realist....and a big time pessimist that anything is every going to happen to make things right again.

5. You are a very optimistic person
I have become cynical and pessimistic.

I was at a New Year's party yesterday and I felt like myself and the host were the only two liberals. Hell, I had no interest in even discussing politics. Someone else brought it up. And the sad thing is this was all young people. Two had some connection to the military that too.

I did leave the party early (I wish I had left earlier)...But it left a feeling of disgust over the attitude many have in this world.

Bush still has a base of support left and as long as repukes have control of the House and Senate, I think this talk of impeachment, arrests, and all these other fantasies is merely a pipe dream.

Impeachment however, may be a possibility, if a) Dems wins back the House and b) Dems get their shit together meaning moderate Dems afraid of looking like they are in a partisan witch hunt actually go along with it.

Either way, this means Dems MUST take back the House. If removal is to be a possibility, we must take back the Senate. This is possible, but will be extremely difficult, even in the best case scenarios.

6. I get frustrated too
My enthusiasm ebbs and flows with what I hear from people around me. I would find an evening like the one you described very discouraging too. The key is to focus on the goal. Don't let the naysayers deter us.

7. I decided that I wasn't interested in getting into heated arguments
on New Year's eve. It just didn't interest me. The people were nice otherwise. I made a few comments here and there about torture, the administration's support of it and I also ripped on Rumsfeld (it seemed like all others there hated him).

It was an odd experience and I think it's good to have that sort of reality check once in a while (but I would definetely have preferred to have been at the party I went to afterwards). While polls are to a large extent manufactured by a complicit corporate media, there exists some support and we must learn how to counter that.
