Tinfoil Hat Time - Proposed Amendment to stop Secret Societies
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 12:32 PM by ck4829
With secretive RW Groups such as the Council for National Policy, the Executive Brethren, the Family, Legacy, and possibly more influencing America's Government, maybe it's time to put a stop to it.

One country has already done this, so be sure not to forget about Poland.

Article 13 of it's Constitution states that:

"Political parties and other organizations whose programmes are based upon totalitarian methods and the modes of activity of nazism, fascism and communism, as well as those whose programmes or activities sanction racial or national hatred, the application of violence for the purpose of obtaining power or to influence the State policy, or provide for the secrecy of their own structure or membership, shall be prohibited."

Is this Tin Foil material? Or, is it serious?

What do you all think, could we use an Amendment like this?

1. Bad idea
Couldn't Bush just argue that Democrats, or DU, are "secret societies"? Make public that list of ACLU members now! There are just so many more important problems than making an amendment about something like this.

2. Absolutely not...
Secret societies have always existed, and will always exist. Some of them go back to a time when they were specifically outlawed and managed to survive anyway. That's where the whole notion came from anyway.

And who'd judge what, precisely, was a "secret society?"

4. I'm in TWO "Secret Societies"
Of course, I cannot tell you which ones, but they are *quite* old.

The ones I am involved with are not fascist, communist, or racists, though...

3. constitutional right
freedom of association.

I don't think we ought to be putting right's denying things into our constitution -- and think that this is in the same league as the gay marrige ban and the flag buring ammendment.

5. ::sigh:: Why amend our own Constitution? We don't enforce
what we already have.

More laws on the books mean nothing to people who won't abide by the ones already there.
:banghead:

Better idea: Insist the Congress ENFORCE the Constitution NOW or replace them with reps who will!

More amendments for the junta to ignore is not gonna help us at all until there is enforcement of the ones already there.

Sometimes, writing a law is not an answer. Sometimes we have to take action. Let Congress know they either uphold their oath of office or they're fired. Then, if they fail to act, FIRE THEM. Work for honest elections and elect honest representation!

My daughter is now older than I was when the ERA started the journey toward becoming part of the Constitution. Folks, we don't have that kind of time. Work to enforce what we have and are losing more of every day!

Tinker with it later, when we have the luxury of time and the reality of numbers which would allow changes.

We don't have time right now! And we sure don't need another diversion from the relevant issues. The GOP supplies enough wedge issues to keep the masses confused and unfocused. What is the point of helping them in that effort?
