SPYGATE is THE turning point....We will never be able to go back
If this is not dealt with. If Congress does not ACT. It is over.

1. I agree...and sadly--
I've lost faith in our government to protect us from these malicious, psychopathic, warmongering, neoCON pigs.

However, I haven't lost faith in myself.

I have a feeling that America is going to slip away for a while.

Our grandchildren will wonder why so many were complacent--in the same way that people today wonder how so many could have allowed Hitler and fascism to flourish.

3. Public opinion can be easily manipulated when the media is controlled,
or at least complacent,to the government. Hitler was allowed to flourish because of an appeal to nationalistic xenophobia. It's very easy to blame a minority group for all the problems facing the country. Unfortunately, I believe it's easier to appeal to the worst part of human nature, i.e. hatred, to achieve political gain. That's what got Bush and his cabal elected.

7. I agree that hatred and a false sense of superiority drives Bush's minions
You are right. Junior was elected because he appeals to the WORST parts of humanity. You only have to listen to Rush Limbaugh to understand that Junior and his ilk are about propping up the worst of society.

People who were considered abnormal freaks, are now validated by Junior. Junior, Limbaugh and the other hate-radio freaks--stroke the egos of people that normal, decent society would scoff at. These people--most of whom have been ridiculed their entire lives--are now free to saunter about the country feeling superior.

Yes, folks--people who load up their pick-up trucks with their guns and the Jesus statues on trailer hitches---now feel powerful and in control. They aren't giving that up--for anything. They'll go along with invading Minnesota--if they have to. They feel like somebody now--a part of something. Before Junior--these types were only found in the circus or in their basements with the poodles named "Precious."

Junior and his ilk culled the worst of society and made them feel important. It's revolting.

Unfortunately, there is a minority in this country that is being bastardized and scapegoated--just like Hitler did to the Jews. Have you heard what hate radio says about liberals? They don't just state our political differences. WE are positioned and defined as human debris---un-American, Christian hating, scummy, freak, sexually deviant, unpatriotic enemies of this country. We are equated with the terrorists in vitriolic, enraged tones. We are objects to be hated.

It's scary out there.

4. we have to get from behind our keyboards
and march on Washington. as it is, the loudest voice (& teh one with the most money) is the one that DC listens to. We need to show them that there are, indeed, a lot of peopel that don't like what is going on in Gongress & the Whitehouse, & want bush out now. The only was to show our numbers visually is to march.

8. I agree, but the MSM is owned by the WH and they NEVER cover
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 03:08 PM by in_cog_ni_to
the protests. People don't see them. No one knows there is a HUGE movement out there because the media keeps it hidden. Remember the Sept. HUGE anti-war protest in D.C.? Not one network found it worthy of coverage. C-SPAN was the only network to have it and how many people watch C-SPAN? No one knew about that march and no one would know about an impeachment march either. There has to be another way. Marches do NOTHING without coverage by the media....the WH saw what happened during Vietnam protests (people saw the TRUTH) and aren't about to let the same thing happen.

11. The fact we are already trivializing it by calling it "spygate" indicates
nothing much is likely to happen. No scandal that can be shrunken by attachment of a "gate" suffix will grow outrage sufficient to oust a sitting president.

12. That bottle was opened a long time ago
There is no dealing with it. We try and deal with nuclear weapons, yet more countries have them today than ever, and we're about to send the the Eastern Hemisphere into a third world war over them.

You create spy agencies, and you're going to have blowback. They start by spying on other countries, but the world is round, and power only has one way to go. You know how those unintended consequences work. You can have rules and such, but they will be broken.
