Who are wealthier in the Senate and House Repukes or Dems?
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 09:49 PM by stop the bleeding
I was talking to a freeper and he was adamant that the Democrats were the wealthier of the two, and I thought to myself this would be a good point for DU to try and debunk.

Feel free to classify in sub parts as far as cash wealth as oppose to material/asset wealth or both.

BTW it came up because we were talking about how Congress is cutting social programs all the while giving tax breaks to people who "don't need them"

1. The personal wealth of members doesn't matter
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Or who's cutting programs that affect the VAST majority of people who are neither members of Congress nor millionaires? Has this freeper ever heard of noblesse oblige? Probably not.

Ask your freeper who gets more corporate donations.

Also more Democratic congresscritters are from Blue states where the cost of living is much higher so you have to factor that out to do an accurate comparison.

2. Why should it matter?
The rich Dems in the Senate and House don't seem to be all supportive of tax cuts that would just benefit them.

IT's not about who has more money. It's about how they use it.

3. I tend to think it really doesn't matter after the first $5 million or so.
On the whole, I believe the Dems are probably richer.

4. Yes people I know it does not matter, and I said that as well along with
other debunks and facts for other "debates". However I thought it would be nice to slam him on this point as well. When I get into to "it" with sheeple I don't leave any stone of their lunatic reasoning(s) unturned, and as true to my colors I wanted to have this question addressed and I knew DU was the place to find the answer quickly.

Thanks in advance for the help.:patriot:

5. it depends what kind of assets you're talking about...
as some are better at hiding their's than others. While I am certain there are note-worthy dems with their hands in the kitty...the gross looting of our national treasure in the last five years, to my eyes has no parallel...
