Dear President Bush: I am praying for you… again
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 01:01 PM by Sapphire Blue
You frequently profess your ‘Christianity’. When asked to name your favorite philosopher, you responded, “Jesus”. However, your actions would lead one to believe that you are neither a Christian, nor familiar with your favorite philosopher’s teachings. Your actions would lead one to believe that you used this as a political stunt to deceive ignorant voters into casting their votes for you. If these ignorant voters were to look at the teachings of Jesus, then look at your actions, perhaps they might realize this.

So, dear Georgie, I am praying, once again, that you will discover and follow Jesus’ teachings and become the Christian that you profess to be. (I also pray that your ignorant followers do the same.) I realize you don’t like reading, so I will suggest again that perhaps Laura could read to you... she was a librarian once upon a time, so I’m sure she could do this… perhaps in lieu of a bedtime story.

May I suggest the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? You will find Jesus’ teachings there.

Since you have such a short attention span, let me point out just a few...

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

- Matthew 5: 7

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

- Matthew 5: 8

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

- Matthew 5: 9

Blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

- Matthew 5: 10

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

- Matthew 6: 5

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father who seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

- Matthew 6: 6

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers; therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

- Matthew 23: 14

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these ye ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone.

- Matthew 23: 23

And the King shall answer and say unto them, `Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.'

- Matthew 25: 40

My God, Georgie, What have you done… again?

2. Actually...
'When asked to name your favorite philosopher, you responded, “Jesus”.'

He actually said "favorite political philosopher". Which means he (like the Pharisees) missed the point.

22. As much as I would like to see him impeached, I would much rather see...
... him become the Christian that he professes to be... to live the teachings of Jesus.

14. A 'Damascus Road' moment is desperately necessary now, oh Lord my God !
And to our Founding Father's Masonic memories, we also say this

'Oh Lord my God, is there no help for the poor sons of the widow ?'

Geo. Washington almost certainly beseeched the Almighty with this cry of distress at Valley Forge; it is our cry today.

15. fantastic post!!!
nominated for sure and really moved me. Makes me want to pick up my bible and start reading. Funny, most christians never even talk about the gospels anymore, all they refer to is Paul and never Jesus because Jesus never supports their arguments against homosexuality and other "controversial" issues. Wish they would remember that mary magdalene was a prostitute.

19. I believe in a God who can redeem anyone
can soften the hardest heart
open the most closed mind
redeem the most worthless life
bring light into the darkest places

What a great time this would be for a miracle. We are living in horrible, historic times. Give us a historic conversion.

26. Ah, Sapphire Blue, you did it again.
As I noted before, I am not religious, but I do believe in these words: ... Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.

And then I look at this poseur in this photo, doing his best to imitate the emotion of deep concern on his face, faking anger at the situation (the clenched fist), bathed in the oh-so-perfect lighting which reminds me of that photo they took of him on 9-11 on the phone. I look at that photo and think, the man has never experienced one iota of compassion in his life. He thinks even the words of Jesus, or the commandments of God, do not apply to him.

Keep praying, Sapphire Blue.

One of the saddest things I've heard bush say was that he's never lost anyone close to him. (If I remember correctly, the discussion was about those who have lost loved ones in his war.) What I find so sad about that statement is that when George was seven years old, his baby sister, Robin, three years old, died from leukemia.

How could he make such a statement, that he's never lost anyone close to him, when he lost his baby sister?!?!? It seems apparent looking at his policies that the majority Americans, the majority of the world, mean nothing to him, but doesn't anyone mean anything to him? Is there anything that penetrates his heart (or what should be his heart)?

(Robin's death is discussed in 'God and George W. Bush'... an excerpt is available @ http://msnbc.msn.com/id/5748598.)
