Are the cartoons the straw on the camel's back?
TO BE CLEAR AND STOP THE FLAMES UP FRONT: I have consistently supported the right to publish these cartoons. Freedom of speech and expression is just that, even when we don't like what's being said or expressed.

That said, it occurred to me that the Muslim world has seen invasions based on lies, torture prisons set up, trophy videos of westerners driving around sniping at people, westerners bust their own law breakers out of jail, and so on and so on and so on.

In other words, there have been many things you might expect to incite protests that didn't cause problems like these cartoons.

Is it possible the reaction here, for many, is just the "enough is enough" kind of thing? Meaning they have no more tolerance, and lashed out at what they think is the mindset behind the other issues?

Just thinking about it and wondering if anyone else has thought about it, to.

5. I think you are, in part, correct
I do believe that the bruhaha is, as you say, a final insult to Muslim feelings. But I also see that the cartoons have been used by elements in both East and West to further their own agendas.
