I'm listening to Michael Finney's show and they broke in to say VP Cheney had been injured on a huntung trip in Wyoming. They had no details but would break in again when they got more info!

1. Gee you think maybe
he got some bad news from Fitzgerald this week?

All these neocons have been showing up crippled for their indictments. Maybe they are walking on aspen crutches?

No, wait. That was Johnny Cash.

MY BAD!

Get well soon, Mister Vice President. You need to be well enough to go to prison.

38. And then there is Tom Lehrer's "Hunting Song":
Click link for tune and lyrics:

http://members.aol.com/quentncree/lehrer/hunting.htm

or just sing the lyrics below to yourself:

TOM LEHRER REVISITED
8. The Hunting Song
Almost every day during the hunting season you see at least one item in the newspapers about somebody who has shot somebody else, under the impression that he was a deer with a red hat, perhaps. Maybe a large flesh-colored squirrel. At any rate, it seems to me that this marks an encouraging new trend in the field of blood sports, and deserves a new type of hunting song which I present herewith.

I always will remember,
'Twas a year ago November,
I went out to hunt some deer
On a morning bright and clear.
I went and shot the maximum the game laws would allow:
Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a cow.

I was in no mood to trifle,
I took down my trusty rifle
And went out to stalk my prey.
What a haul I made that day!
I tied them to my fender, and I drove them home somehow:
Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a cow.

The law was very firm, it
Took away my permit,
The worst punishment I ever endured.
It turned out there was a reason,
Cows were out of season,
And one of the hunters wasn't insured.

People ask me how I do it,
And I say "There's nothin' to it,
You just stand there lookin' cute,
And when something moves, you shoot!"
And there's ten stuffed heads in my trophy room right now:
Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a pure-bred Guernsey cow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes
*In the orchestral version of this song, the last two stanzas are repeated.

:bounce: ENJOY :bounce:

40. Thanks! I love Tom Lehrer!
Wish he'd come out of retirement-- there's certainly more than enough insanity out there for him to riff on.

Even by accident, that's really bad.

Pry that damn rifle out of his cold dead hands, that man shouldn't be allowed any where near weapons.

of the place they were all hunting. KGO just said Whittington is doing OK, and Cheney is at his bedside now.

What an ASS!!!!

My husband taucht me to hunt when we first me, 50 years ago! The FIRST thing he taught me was ALWAYS make sure you have a clean shot!

I can't believe Cheney was this damn stupid!

I was in the process of wondering if he was hunting with Scalia when the thread was locked, and questioning whether Gonzo would get his "shot" at the Supremes as a consequence.

Old Fat Tony dissed Roberts' swearing in ceremony. And hey, those guys play hardball....

Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 03:54 PM by Garbo 2004
The news is only getting out now, apparently:

Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday.

Harry Whittington, 78, was "alert and doing fine" after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong.

Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

And got sidetracked from concentrating on his hunting.

You need to concentrate when you are handling those weapons of mass animal destruction.

28. No prob. Here's an article from Forbes magazine.
Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday.

30. Nope, no criminal charges. It's not illegal to be careless or stupid!
Sometimes I think it should be, but it's not. He was hunting with friends and had permission of the property owner. Even though Whittington is a lawyer, I guess he's also a friend of Unka Dick's.
