"Fuck the DLC" (Everyone sing along!)
Now that Paul Hackett has apparently been chased out of the Senate race, here's a little song to the tune of Fuck the Middle East by Stormtroopers of Death:

Fuck the DLC
They wrecked our party system
They don't give a damn 'cause they're
Career politicians
They trashed Howard Dean
They cost Kerry the election
It's time we vote them out and
Take the Dems in new directions

BAYH and FEINSTEIN - time to clean your fuckin' desks
LIEBERMAN and DORGAN - selling out has made you lame
CLINTON and LANDRIEU - last chance to jump the ship
So BOXER and CONYERS can live in peace without these dicks

4. I am sick to death of Dems losing because of incompetence from on high
We need to WIN, and win BIG this year, otherwise there will be no impeachment of Nero.

Eyes on the prize...

11. Yes, and both men are solid liberals who get pissed on
For not being belligerent loudmouths.

Hackett's crendentials consist of calling Bush a son of a bitch - but that's enough to make him DU's eternal hero. Never mind his actual ISSUE positions, mind...

12. Everything I've heard from Hackett has been great.
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 12:30 AM by BullGooseLoony
Don't start in with the "He's a right-winger" stuff. That's ridiculous.

If you have a problem with one of his positions, you should take a closer look at your own thinking. The only thing I know of that is remotely contestable is his stance on *illegal* immigration.

2. *groan*
Repeat after me:

SHERROD BROWN IS WAY TO THE LEFT OF PAUL HACKETT.

DOES THAT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING THE DLC WOULD WANT?

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Ah, DU: Uninformed ranting for the sake of the noise.

20. DING! DING! DING!
We have a winner!

I want progressives to sweep 2006, yes, but you must suit the campaign to the terrain. If Dianne Feinstein were to run for Senate in Texas instead of California, she would have been laughed out of the state.

8. It wasn;t the DLC -- Read where Brown stands on the issues
He's a progressive who is much needed in the Senate.

This was not the DLC Centrists trying to stifle a liberal. The Democratic leadership actually threw their support to a clearcut progressive.

9. Don't bother
This is the "Sound and fury signifying nothing" stage of the DU conversation. It's all a DLC plot...or something.

10. Don't get me wrong...
I'm reading up on Sherrod Brown. I'm not impressed by his HJ Res 24, which Nero would have blown through like it was wet toilet paper. But the Homeward Bound bill may have some promise.

He's also a gun-grabber, unlike Paul Hackett. Observe:

February 12, 2004

Dear Mr. Schneider:

Thank you for expressing your support for a renewal of the 1994 assault weapons ban.

In 1994 Congress enacted a ban on semi-automatic assault weapons. Every major police organization--local, state, and national--supported the assault weapons ban. They made clear that assault weapons are the guns of choice for drug dealers and the most violent criminals in America. All too often, criminals illegally obtain weapons and threaten public safety and law enforcement officials. These men and women, who put their lives on the line every day, fear that they are being outgunned by criminals who use these weapons.

It makes sense to update the ban to reflect emerging public safety threats. When Congress considers legislation reauthorizing the 1994 ban, please be assured I will keep your views in mind.

Thank you again for contacting me.
Sincerely,

SHERROD BROWN
Member of Congress

Too bad the milkman never came

I can't go out to the store
I'll just wait till Mommy buys more

16. The reason I harp on the DLC...
...is because enough DLCers vote with the Republicans every got-danged time (like Lieberman, for example) that they might as well be Republicans for all the good they do us.

19. DLC..founded on the belief, national Democrats are too liberal for voters
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 12:55 AM by flaminbats
When the DLC was started..Democrats controlled most state and local governments, Democrats even controlled the House of Representatives, and would win back the White House for eight wasted years!

Mondale didn't lose because he was too liberal..nor did Mike Dukakis. Democrats lost because most of our candidates couldn't sling mud like Republicans. The DLC doesn't want us back in power, it only wants the DLC to dominate the debate if..god forbide..those commies ever win back power!

Reagan Democrats..Perot independents, give us a break...this is now a one party system. The Democrats are the outsiders, not another big tent loaded with independents or conservatives.
