Has it been confirmed the NSA domestic, covert operation includes mail?

On NPR this morning, the lead in to an interview with a Justice Department person said that the "surveillance program" included phone, mail and email. Was that confirmed by the administration or anyone else?

Even more odd that the fellow from the Justice Department (very pro-Bush) would not correct it if untrue. He didn't say anything about it.

I ordered a new tape recorder from the "C. Crane" company and when I got it, it was obvious that the item had been opened, unpacked and then re-packed very poorly. Thinking the company, which has a good reputation had accidentally sent me a used or demo model, I called and the representative who sounded very sincere and even offered to send me a new recorder with a free return label for the other said that the returns and demos were kept and shipped from a totally different building and that sometimes "Homeland Security" inspects packages they ship out for some reason that he wouldn't specify. My guess is harassment, maybe they haven't or refuse to pay their protection money to the corrupt government entity.

What really pisses me off is how many dangerous items do get by these un-trained, crony idiots as they're more focused on what you and me buy from Amazon, C. Crane or Target than all those fake uranium cases that 60 minutes keeps getting through the ports with ease.
