The Magic Pellet
Mysteriously migrates to the heart...

From where? His pinky?

http://www.wbir.com/news/national/story.aspx?storyid=32055

Doctors in Texas say some of the birdshot that Vice President Cheney accidentally fired at a fellow hunter over the weekend has lodged in the man's heart, causing a minor heart attack.
Doctors say Harry Whittington is still in stable condition, and that he showed no chest pain or other signs of a heart attack. They say they have been watching for movement of the birdshot within the body of the 78-year-old man.

The man shot by Vice President Dick Cheney experienced a heart irregularity after birdshot moved into his heart.

The doctors at the hospital in Corpus Christi say they've been consulting with White House doctors about Whittington's treatment.

5. Pellets follow the path of least resistance.
Blood vessels offer less resistance than solid tissue. That's why land mines that use pellets are outlawed. They can enter your leg and burst from your finger, or worse.

11. A pellet can lodge somewhere unobstructive for a time...
...and become dislodged later, especially if they have been hospitalized, put in a bed and don't move around a lot. It's not that much of a stretch. I'm not saying this is what happened, just that it's physically possible and probable.

7. The doctor said the chest cavity was "thin"
and that it was not surprising that there would be a "pellet" in there..

Shocking to say the least.. A doctor, negating the function of the ribs and connective cartilage.. That's WHY the heart sits where it does...in a very protected place BEHIND the rib cage.

8. The spin and lies are incredible with this story.
They seem to be falling all over themselves with disinformation.

It must be really bad if they are this wacked out. Maybe he WAS drunk..

AND...that Cheney "slunk" back to DC instead of staying with his "friend" says much about the lack of character. Would have looked better if he'd sat by his bedside taking a leave from his "VP Duties."

Cut and Run CHENEY...can't take responsibility for his screw ups..

9. Shot can enter through vessels in the neck and travel through the body.

Post from ER medical person at Firedoglake blog:

...snip...
Speaking as a 20-year veteran of The-Big-ICU-In-Knife-And-Gun-Club-Territory, there is no way in hell that the victim is relatively uninjured.

Shotgun injuries are some of the worst cases I have taken care of, due to the spread-shot nature of the wounds. If the victim got "peppered" in the neck, there are waaaayyyy too many important structures in that small space (oh, like maybe one of the internal or external carotid arteries) for this to be a "no big deal" situation. If any of the pellets nicks a blood vessel, it may travel as far as it can go--I took care of a kid shot in the chest and some pellets eneded up in his ankle, blocking the bloodflow, leading to an amputation. In this situation, add to that the victim's age and potential underlying medical problems--this is huge.

These days, God Almighty doesn't get to stay in the ICU unless it is absolutely imperative that He do so.

This stinks worse than a gangrenous leg....
