Whose job is it to topple Fascism?
Ours. The liberals in Washington have the responsibility to inform us of the corruption, but it's our job to destroy it. So I'll float the idea that we have not been doing what we should. And because we have either weak or no responce, it's getting worse. Fascism has never had an easier ride than this current gang. Are we waiting for some charismatic fellow to lead us? Not likely going to happen. Here is the answer: I don't have one. All I know is the above.

1. Quick answer
it'll take a legal election in 2006. When the Dem's take back the house, they can start investigating this regime and hopefully topple it.

2. Then we're f*cked
A "legal" election seems less and less likely. Methinks we need to take mass public action. Before 2006 elections. If only to let the Dems know "we care."

3. Iran
Did you happen to see the speech yesterday that took place in Tehran? At least two million people attended, do you think we could assemble that many americans in one place in this country?

If it's doable then put me down i'll be there, and i agree we need to take to the streets.

7. We need to build a coalition
This is from Bob Burnett posting on Huffington Post:

<snip>
The Democratic Party is pretty unruly assemblage composed of a wide-variety of interest groups: identity groups such as feminists, GLBT activists, and racial and ethnic minorities; environmentalists; labor unions; anti-war activists; groups that are concerned about economic issues such as globalization and the rising power of multinational corporations; and special interests, such as crazies who believe that everyone has the right to adequate healthcare. If you came from another planet, such as France, and studied the two Parties, you might conclude that Republicans are like cows--totally willing to line up to be milked--and Democrats are like cats--always going their own way.

9. Health care?
and special interests, such as crazies who believe that everyone has the right to adequate healthcare.

I'm assuming you were kidding about adequate health care? But i agree, the Democratic party is loaded with real americans from all stripes. And for me thats what makes it the american party, besides cat's can take care of themselves unlike cow's that need to be Fed and milked daily.

4. The problem with that analysis....
can be simply stated with a list of names.

Joe Biden
Mary Landrieu
Joe Lieberman
Ben Nelson
Mark Pryor
Ken Salazar.... etc, and that's just the Senate.

You get the idea.

12. Bingo!
Your very next post (#3) put a finger on the answer. Reform for this issue and others won't come from the top, it will start at the grassroots. Only after this happens will a new generation of flame-hardened democratic leaders emerge and take the reigns of government.

They won't just be the worse political nightmare of the right wing, either. More than anything, this is what the current Democratic political machine fears. They are more afraid of this than then they are of the GOP.

13. What we fail to remember is that elections are the last step in the
process of change. If we think that simply voting changes anything, we're deluding ourselves.

We need to start real grassroots organizing (outside the the Democratic Party apparatus) around our interests. If we create a larger enough voting bloc (like labor and the civil rights movement did), the Party will stumble over itself to woo us to the polls for them.
