Question about the ranch Cheney was hunting at (help)
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 10:53 PM by FreedomAngel82
I'm listening to the Stephanie Miller show from yesterday in hour two (I'm listening during commericals on Malloy's show :P ) and a caller called and told how in the first reporting of this story they called the owner ANN Armstrong and NOT Katherine. She, Ann, owns the property. According to this guy Ann went all the way back to the NIXON administraiton.
She held the office in Nixon's White House where Karl Rove resides right now. She was the chairman of the presidents foreign intelligence advisory board. This is a little known group that advised the persident on intellgent activities. She's also on the board of Haliburton who put Cheney as CEO of Haliburton. So this guy thinks the story goes far far deeper than a loaded buckshot in the guys face. And don't forget who the lawyer was too.

1. It explains why they were at that ranch...
...and why he had that hunting partner. What else does it explain? What's your theory?

Now it get's worth a big peak into the skeleton closet.
Halliburton just get's dirtier and dirtier, as if it could, but it does.

4. This cabal goes way back.
The entanglements and cronyism is amazing. The well connected are always filthy rich and getting millions from the taxpayers buck in one way or another. Id bet my ass that this guy who was shot is rolling in government contracts and such.

5. I'm missing what you're seeing, aside from the fact that maggots
travel in groups. They are old friends and partners in crime, including Whittington. Seems natural that they'd find pleasure in blowing away pet birds together.

7. You don't think shooting someone due to wreckless hunting practices
is enough of a reason for Cheney to lie? I don't see what you're getting at. It's no secret Whittington and Cheney are friends, it's no secret the Armstrongs and Cheney are friends. I believe Ann played a role in getting Cheney his job at Halliburton.

What does that have to do with the shooting? I'm missing it still.

13. Well I went to
Wayne Madsen's site to see what he said about this and he has an interesting report. I know some people don't credit him but it's worth looking at anyways:

Link: http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/

Snip: <Further details are emerging about Cheney's hunting trip. Hunting with Cheney and Whittington at the south Texas ranch of former Republican White House adviser and ambassador to Britain Anne Armstrong, was Pamela Pitzer Willeford, the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Texas GOP activist, and longtime member of various boards and committees in Texas, including the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, State Preservation Board, Texas Book Fair Committee, and Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries Advisory Committee. As reported by WMR on Feb. 10, the CIA, under Porter Goss, has re-established drug money laundering conduits involving Geneva banks. The operations, allegedly overseen by a close relative of Goss, involve laundering cash from CIA heroin smuggling from U.S.-occupied Afghanistan. >

8. Your information is correct.
They're an old money family here in Texas, Ann's husband, Tobin Armstrong's family owned the ranch, he's now deceased. The family isn't just a bunch of humble ranchers.

9. Katherine is the daughter of Anne Armstrong, and is an heir.

Katharine Armstrong
Occupation: Owner
Employer: Katharine Armstrong, Inc.
Home: Dallas, TX
Warren Idsal and Katharine Armstrong both worked for major investment firms at the time of their 1982 wedding, with the Paine Webber (see Joseph Grano) groom marrying a Smith Barney bride. During the 2000 campaign the then-married couple still romantically shared a common Bush Pioneer tracking number. Katherine is the daughter of Pioneer Tobin Armstrong, an heir to the fabled Armstrong and King Ranch fortunes. Her mother, Anne Armstrong, who is Kay Bailey Hutchison’s best friend, helped launch the senator’s career as Republican National Committee co-chair in 1971. As Texas Treasurer in the early 1990s, Kay Bailey Hutchison returned the favor by hiring Armstrong’s son-in-law, Warren Idsal, as a top aide. But Hutchison fired him after a short tenure. Warren Idsal also was an executive at health and life insurer United Insurance Companies (UICI) for several years in the late 1990s. Then-Governor George W. Bush appointed Katharine Idsal to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission in 1999. The Idsals divorced and Katherine reclaimed her maiden name after Bush’s gubernatorial successor appointed Katherine chair of the commission. This heir apparent to the Armstrong Ranch resigned her state post in mid-2003, citing her need to make a living for her three children. In 2004 she reported three Texas lobby contracts, led by construction company Parsons Technology and Dannenbaum Engineering, a major contractor for Texas water projects. That year she teamed up with Pioneer Karen Johnson to lobby the Bush administration. Armstrong and Johnson lobbied then-Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman to adopt mad-cow tests made by Swiss client Prionics. They also lobbied the administration on undisclosed issued on behalf of Baker Botts (see James Baker, Robert Jordan and William Barnett). President Bush invited Katherine Armstrong and her parents to a White House sleepover.

10. Karen Johnson ...
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/7/26/161729/354

"For years, political insiders in the Lone Star State have whispered about Rove's close friendship with lobbyist Karen Johnson, a never-married, forty-something GOP loyalist from Austin, Texas. The two first became close when Johnson sat on the board of then-Governor George W. Bush's Business Council over a decade ago. Their friendship reportedly deepened after Bush appointed Johnson--a little-known spokesperson for the Texas Good Roads Association--to a seat on his Transportation Department transition team in 2000. The plum appointment enabled Johnson's lobbying firm, Infrastructure Solutions, to snare such high-paying clients as Aetna and the City of Laredo. Sources say Johnson now frequently travels between Washington D.C. and Austin, where she frequently appears at Rove's side at parties and unofficial functions."

14. She appears at Rove's side at parties and functions?
Wow. So is she Rove's mistress? Why don't we ever see Rove's wife? Or is he still married? We've never seen his son either.

company? Not so much of a coincidence now that Cheney is hunting with the Ambassador to Switzerland on Armstrong's ranch.

What was her name again? I remember seeing a photo of her in the last few days and she has a resemblance to Lynn Cheney.

The media needs to keep hitting Cheney with questions about why Dick Cheney is spending the weekend with a group of lobbyists to begin with!

on edit: duh, there is a whole thread about the Ambassador to Switzerland here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x436746
