What is Jason Leopold's track record?
New to Demo Underground and I've noticed that every piece written by Jason Leopold instantly jumps to the top of the Greatest page, but the stories seem almost too good to be true and would require someone with unprecedented inside info.

Anyone know what his track record is? Can I pass this stuff around to friends?

1. I don't know his whole record but I generally wait for other confirms
Once other sources verify stuff he puts out then it's getting interesting. But yeah, his stuff does seem almost too good to be true and perhaps is. I'm patient. I know that it's ultimately what gets stuck in indictments that matters in the real world (Libby's defense team's ideas to the contrary).

2. Welcome to DU Unmarked Poster and yes Leopold is solid
reporting and he is one of the good guys, different sites and news organizations publish his work all of the time.

3. I work for truthout

and we run Leopold. Our Executive Director and Managing Editor have been up one side of his sourcing and down the other. We at truthout are completely satisfied that is sources are solid. We wouldn't run him otherwise.

Matter of fact, Joe Wilson wrote me yesterday praising Leopold's work. So there's that.

7. That's good to hear..
I'll be quite happy to see his work vindicated in the long run as hopefully (very hopefully) we'll see these angles pursued in the courts of law as the facts dictate.

4. As far as his Raw Story work, it's been unimpeachable...
...same goes for John Byrne and Larisa Alexandrovna.

5. Quite often a story will appear on RawStory
and then in the New York Times a day or 2 later.

I used to be more skeptical of Raw Story but lately they have been ahead of the game on a lot of stories. Someone there knows the right people!

Welcome to DU!! :toast:

Peace!

6. IMHO it's the story line, not Jason Leopold that rocketed the post
up the greatest page.

Jason Leopold is OK. He had some trouble in the past with the NYT about sourcing. I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure if you google Jason Leopold you can figure it out.

11. You can bank on it.
In the corporate media, Chris Matthews' show Hardball has been the most accurate and hard-hitting in its reporting on the Plame scandal. But Chris isn't able to tell the truth to the extent that Jason Leopold has. The prosecutor has a heck of a lot more information than the public realizes, and it is safe to say that Raw Story does, too.
