1. Cisco also uses L. Ron Hubbard's management techniques...
In short:

1). The people at the TOP TEN PERCENT of the workforce are responsible for BRINGING IN THE NUMBERS. No matter how reprehensible they may be as human beings, as long as they continue to bring in those numbers, they are UNTOUCHABLE.

2). The people in the MIDDLE 80 PERCENT are the WORKER bees. You should let them know that they could either RISE to the TOP TEN PERCENT or FALL to the BOTTOM TEN PERCENT, which means...

3). The people at the BOTTOM TEN PERCENT are given a 90 day (or less) "shape up or ship out" warning. You're supposed to CRUCIFY these people, SCARE THEM, BUST THEM THE FUCK UP.

Hubbard Management Principles dictate that every quarter you MUST have a TOP TEN PERCENT, a BOTTOM TEN PERCENT, and by default, an 80 PERCENT middle ground.

One of the managers at Cisco shot off her big mouth about how WONDERFUL these policies were and it made the headlines.

Cisco CEO John Chambers presents himself as a cross between a Southern Gentleman and some kind of soft-spoken, benign Buddha...but as someone who's worked behind those walls, let me tell you: he's a bloodthirsty PRICK.

2. I have a Friend Who Works There
In their London office. I'll have to tweak him a little bit about following a Scientologist. :D FWIW, the Western companies that do business with China get totally ripped off by the Chinese. The Chinese steal the Western companies' designs, manufacture them for a fraction of the cost, then compete in the same markets. My friend told me about some equipment that they were using in their Chinese network project. There was some flaw in it that they had to do a work-around for. When they managed to get the same piece of equipment from Huawei, they opened it up and it had the SAME WORK-AROUND. This kind of stuff happens to anyone who does business in China.

3. In fact, one of the Chinese witnesses said that these ISPs , etc are only
in China until China kicks them out, ie, as you're saying, they no longer need American techology because they have ripped off or created their own.
