I think there is a very serious problem in that report for Cheney.
On the first page of the report - Two covey of quail are flushed in quick order. He KNEW Whittington was going back to the first shoot. He moved a hundred yards to the second flush as Whittington went to the first to recover his kills. HE KNEW WHERE HE WAS. He "shot on the fly" to the area of the first flush, without looking.
This is negligence. You go to jail for that in California. He shot toward an area where he knew, by his own admission, one of his party was, without looking.
Cheney is a lot of things, but he is certainly a smart guy. Only an abject moron would do such a thing, unless of course he was impaired (by beer or other things).
What was the shot he was using, absent in the report - just amazing!!
I didn't think a 28 guage could penetrate too much at 90 feet or more - surely not lead shot - and the guy was hunting little birds for God's sake. Judging from news accounts, a lot of people thought the same.
I don't believe in guns. And I would never approve of killing any animal except for food. But I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, I understand people hunting for food. And I have no problem with hunting as long as they eat what they kill - and that asshole sure didn't appear undernourished.
Something is wrong here - you can smell it. They better start asking real questions.
