TV Newser: Olbermann/Matthews beats Zahn/Blitzer eight times in a row

MSNBC beat CNN in the 25-54 demographic at 7 and 8pm last week, and the trend has continued so far this week.

Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann have outperformed Wolf Blitzer and Paula Zahn for eight straight weekdays.

Last week, MSNBC averaged 180,000 demo viewers at 7pm, compared to 166,000 for CNN (and 423,000 for FNC). CNN had almost 200,000 more total viewers than MSNBC, and FNC had almost 1.6 million.

... The trend continued on Monday, with Hardball averaging 222,000 demo viewers compared to CNN's 147,000. At 8pm, Olbermann had 220,000 and Zahn had 200,000.

1. That's terrific!
Especially for Olbermann. I'm not particulaly fond of Tweety, though.
I think Keith is the best there is.
I wonder how Rita Cosby made out. I kinda hope she'tanking.
Whoops, I take that back about Rita. I think Tucker is sooo much worse than she is, blech.

5. Rita usually loses around 25% of Keith's lead-in
Tucker, however, is simply tanking, seldom breaking 100,000 viewers. I can only assume he's a firm favorite of management or that his contract is too costly to buy out, because MSNBC is taking a bath on his show.

20. An 11:00 show has different competition.
So I'm not sure you can directly compare Tucker's absolute numbers to prime-time shows. But the remark about nobody drinking when they hunt was pretty stupid, I must admit.

I can't stand Faux. They don't even represent news. Hardball is very iffy. Paula and Wolfie are Bushbots.

I love Keith Olbermann and I can still enjoy Larry King.
I also like Lou Dobbs. Tucker Carlson is a joke.

:wtf: That blows my mind !! I thought they had numbers in the millions of viewers. Do you realize what per centage of all the voters in the country that is ?

It's hardly worth it for ANY of these news networks to even turn on the lights.

17. Keith needs to get a weekend gig on NBC. I know new viewers
picked up from the network would follow him over to cable on weekdays. Whaddaya think? Worth an email campaign to TPTB?

19. Hardball and Countdown make for a really solid 2 hours.
I know not everyone likes Tweety, but he has great guests and I like watching the 2 shows together every night. If I'm going to be away from home, I tape the whole 2 hours & watch when I get back.

not watching Idol or some other asinine show instead of keeping up with the news. I think Idol beat Focks, CNN and MSNBC.
