Dick Morris: Cheney: Alcohol involved? (Crooks and Liars)
Watch the whole thing. I can't stand Dick Morris (who, incidentally, is identified as a "former Clinton advisor" on Fox News). But he really does a great job of raising questions about Cheney's sobriety:

(Rough transcript-not in sequence)

Hannity: What do you think?

Morris:: It's hard to speculate, but usually when there is something like this alcohol is involved....

Hannity: Do you think the VP was drunk and firing bullets?

Morris: None of them will come forward.

Hannity: You're insinuating he was drunk which is totally irresponsible.

Morris: Well why would he not go to the hospital?---He could have followed him in a car.

Hannity...(VP) who does not have a history of drinking at all was stumbling down drunk?

5. Hannity is probably relieved that he can't remember the nights
where he got ripped and hit on the likes of Coulter, Malkin or Gannon.

He's a mouthy clueless little twit.

24. Darth was tossed out of Yale for having "other priorities."
As in, drinking until he was pie-faced. How much does one have to drink to get tossed out of a university, anyway?! Frat boys spend many a day pickled beyond reason, yet they don't get canned like Darth did. Amazing. Simply amazing.

34. no stupidity at all
Dick Morris and his buddies at Fox want us to all forget about this- here is some info:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/morris020399.htm

On the third day of the '96 Democratic convention in Chicago, word spread that the supermarket tabloid Star, which had carried the Gennifer Flowers story, was about to reveal Morris's toe-sucking relationship with Rowlands. Clinton dispatched aide Erskine Bowles to see Morris, who admitted the allegations were true but didn't see the need to resign.

"Why?" Morris asked. "What the hell did I do that he wasn't accused of doing in the exact same magazine four years ago?"

"You've admitted it's true," Bowles replied, according to Morris's book. Morris, in tears the next morning, agreed to leave the campaign and would later describe himself as a sex addict.

beer swilling rednecks, vodka'd out college students, and cocaine using upper middle class illiterate jackasses that support Bush/Cheney.

Remember in 1999 all that crap about "Who would you want to have a beer with? Gore or Bush?"

Well, who the hell else would you want to have a beer with? A serious intellectual quiet thoughtful man who enjoys his family, or the redneck jerk who can afford really good tequila and talk about baseball?

27. Here I go again: They considered Clinton unfit for office because
he'd smoked a joint 25 years earlier. But if it turned out that Cheney the Gozerian (Vulguus Zildrohar!) had been freebasing crack when he shot his pal the other day the freepers would have No. Problem. Whatsoever. telling us with a straight face that it didn't matter and wasn't any of our business. We all have moments of hypocrisy, but the RW has built a set of double standards that is astounding.

39. I disagree
I am sure that a certain portion of Bush's base would shrug it off if it somehow came out that Cheney was drunk. But the moral values portion of the base would probably revolt. I know they are pretty good at ignoring hypocrisy, but I think that even most of them would have to realize that Cheney drunkenly shooting people does not exactly make him a stand up guy. Cheney would have to resign.

10. Hannity even sounds like an ass in transcript
"Hannity: Do you think the VP was drunk and firing bullets?" Wtf is "firing bullets"?

And of course (as people are pointing out): "Hannity...(VP) who does not have a history of drinking at all was stumbling down drunk?"

The idiot needs to have a bit of knowledge of what he is discussing before he blindly shoots his mouth off. I can't believe that someone pays someone to do what he does. I'm in the wrong career, I need to get a pseudo-GQ look, go on television and talk out of my ass. I could use the money that moron makes.

12. For some odd reason
I caught Hannity & Colmes - don't know why becasue I can not stomach Hannity - but I got the distinct impression watching this that a decision has been made to get rid of Cheney - otherwise I don't think Morris would have been saying what he said. I think Cheney is going to resign - and they'll put someone else in - Rice? How knows, but they're numbers are so poor, I think they know they have to do something.

40. In my suspicious mind
I almost wonder if the whole thing was a set-up to give Cheney a way of leaving without making it in connection to the Valerie Plame/leaked classified information/Iraq War cherry picking scandals. Because if Cheney were to leave for that it would be an implicit admission of guilt. Of course, I don't think it was a set up because it was handled so poorly. Had they planned it out, I would think they could have come up with a better strategy.

20. medications
I would love a list of the medications he is on and look at the contraindications. Some of them might not mix too well with beer. He had a bad week what with all the Plame stuff and may have doubled up on some anti-anxiety meds. The guy gets serious anxiety attacks. Remember he had that heart attack during the Florida counting debacle the first election.

21. Okay, how long will it take?
We were called "farkin fools" here the other day and told to "SHUT UP!" when we naturally speculated about Darth's consumption of alcohol the day of this accident. Think this idea has been legitimized enough to discuss or are we going to be scolded, again? :eyes: Let's see how long it'll take for someone to show up and tell us we're making all Dems look bad with our "ridiculous" speculation.

If ToeBoy believes it and then goes so far as to announce that belief on Faux - on SHAMMITY'S SHOW, of all places - I say this idea has mainstreamed.

OUCH....low blow...but tit for tat. Takes the ol' rightwing righteousness down a big notch. And Morris was strong on the alcohol connection as you point out Skinner. Yeah, I get the impression the wagons are circling, and Mr. Cheney will be left to swing from the nearest scrub oak, in the next episode of As The Worm Turns.

23. There's a straw man here somewhere...
Could someone who's better at identifying logical fallacies than I am please give your input?

First of all, why is insinuating the VP was drunk, irresponsible? It's a reasonable question to ask under the circumstances, especially regarding the VP of the us.

Hannity uses the phrase "stumbling down drunk" , (an extreme) so Morris will have to deny that, and thus the whole premise of the argument. "Stumbling down drunk" which Hannity pulls out of his ass, is not the issue.

Any consumption of alcohol makes one less able to think clearly, affects one's reaction time, and makes one less able to think clearly. One doesn't have to be stumbling down drunk to be charged with DUI.

Was Cheney drinking, is a reasonable question.

30. Peggy Noonan wrote a piece, I think yesterday, talking about who Cheney's
replacement would be. They are setting up the scenerio for his departure. He'll resign for "health issues" and they'll put in a McCain-type Bush apologist who's national reputation isn't as tainted as Cheney's for preznit run in '08. That's my take on it, anywayz. Certainly seems odd Noonan and Morris all of a sudden breaking ranks. It's more likely this is strategic rhetoric rather then an actual awakening.

The republicans are in hot water and it's time to sacrifice someone to boost poll numbers.

More than enough to tip an election.
