The hapless Mr. Gallagher may have been ugly, but he was also wise.

Not only are physically unattractive teenagers likely to be stay-at-homes on prom night, they're also more likely to grow up to be criminals, say two economists who tracked the life course of young people from high school through early adulthood.

"We find that unattractive individuals commit more crime in comparison to average-looking ones, and very attractive individuals commit less crime in comparison to those who are average-looking," claim Naci Mocan of the University of Colorado and Erdal Tekin of Georgia State University.

Mocan and Tekin analyzed data from a federally sponsored survey of 15,000 high-schoolers who were interviewed in 1994 and again in 1996 and 2002. One question asked interviewers to rate the physical appearance of the student on a five-point scale ranging from "very attractive" to "very unattractive."

I haven't committed any crime as of yet and I am ugly :)

Then there is Bolton UGH and how about Condi. Don't they qualify? Oh Oh I didn't realize, these people are committing crimes, so maybe it is true.

I'm buying it. Not all ugly people go into crime, but it's understandable why one might turn to crime. You can't find a job based on your looks - over and over again you get rejected. What do you do for money?

I worked in an industry where pretty & handsome was a prerequisite. In the end, I was discriminated against due to my disability. My new boss preferred younger, prettier gal, who didn't walk with a cane. He wanted a "trophy" gal. I had seniority and way more experience - she got my job, I got the boot.

as the perp more then an average or pretty person will. Most people are biased when it comes to how a criminal looks and if you look like a criminal you'll be charged as a criminal. We all do it every day in our lives, remember how many were shocked Ted Bundy killed so many women, yet with John Gacey everyone was surprised he wasn't caught sooner.

Maybe this guy has a point.

If one is shunned all their life and has a history of being an outcast of society , maybe that would give him more of a likelihood towards crime.

But then not all ugly folk are like that.

Interesting.

I'm sure that would eventually wear away at one's self-esteem, so I'm not too surprised that some ugly people would resort to crime.

He hates us beautiful people :)
